From Rolling Stone magazine's website:

Jimmy Ruffin, Motown hitmaker, dead at 78

May he rest in peace in Raspberry Heaven.

From 1966, his biggest hit:

The article on Joe Cocker's death from Rolling Stone.

May he rest in peace in Raspberry Heaven.

One of his best-known songs, written by Billy Preston, Bruce Fisher, and an uncredited Dennis Wilson.

From Rolling Stone:
Lesley Gore dies at 68

Her first hit, "It's My Party", was also her biggest, but IMHO, her second biggest hit was her best song.

"You Don't Own Me"
peaked at #2, but the Beatles just wouldn't get out of the way.

Oh well, finishing second to the Fab Four is no disgrace.

May she rest in peace in Raspberry Heaven.

Folk-rock guitarist John Renbourn, a founding member of the group Pentangle, has died at his home in Scotland.

(likely no-where on the radar of most forum members, only those of us who are members of Les Chevaliers du Deuxieme Hemisiecle will know)

I know of Pentangle for one reason (Veehive will not be too surprised that the other resident antique flatulence is the other one who knows). xD

Several years ago, I belonged to the Columbia House Music Club (later BMG Music Service after they merged--BMG Music Service became the name of the merged music club and Columbia House became the name of the video club).

On a whim one day, I bought a collection of TV themes out of the bargain section (2 CDs for $4.99 plus S&H and tax, IIRC). It contained mostly themes from British TV shows, including a song called "Light Flight", which was the theme from a program(me) called "Take Three Girls". My favorite selection from the set is the orchestral version of the theme from "Department S", but I also enjoy "Light Flight".

May Mr. Renbourn rest in peace in Raspberry Heaven.

From Rolling Stone:

Singer Ben E. King dies at 76.

Mr. King served as lead singer for one version of the Drifters (there have been multiple versions), singing lead on several of their biggest hits, before going solo and singing the legendary "Stand By Me", among other hits.

May he rest in peace in Raspberry Heaven.

This was not the Drifters' biggest hit with Ben E., but it is my personal favorite.
