I didn't know of this spin-off manga either, but it sounds promising. More Lucky star is great, and the hopes for a second season needed a boost.

Indeed. Hopefully it will be worth it and maybe, juuuust maybe enough popularity will get us a second season.

For me, as long as it has the same charm, wit and humor as the main series, Iíll bite! Not to mention, I am looking forward to the inevitable cameos! With my interest piqued, I checked out the manga. As I couldnít find a translation of the Miyakawa manga available anywhere, I took the liberty of translating and typsetting the 4-koma short that was on the back of the first volume to give fans a taste of what this series has to offer. Hope you guys like it. (Not sure what happened to the formatting... the text doesn't paragraph...)

^ i had a feeling it would say something like that :D
i agree, i don't mind it having different characters as long as it has the same kind of humour~

I've been going through the first volume and I can't say I'm particularly impressed. It feels like the same jokes over and over again: Hinata likes otaku goods and chooses it over basic necessities much to the chagrin of Hikage, who thinks it would be so great to have lots of money. Yes, there's more to it than that, but its still very formulaic.

That's not to say that even Lucky Star wasn't guilty of exploiting the limited traits of the characters, but it had a much more diverse cast. Here, there's just not enough material with what is essentially 2 characters.

They have introduced some other side characters like Hikage's teacher and classmates, so it's possible they'll help develop the strip into more than what it is, but for now I'd say I hope this doesn't become Yoshimizu's main focus, or that he'll forsake Lucky Star in favour of it.

Unless the show has 5-minute episodes in which case that problem will be solved, and introduce the new problem of ME HATING IT!

EDIT-- MY FIRST POST IN THE NEW FORUM SECTION!
