No, it proves your bias...as a socialist?

"Throws YOUR money to the poor." First, ya misquoted me. Secondly note the word 'your'. This is taking away from my point and given your usage of the word your, implying a large government. You know the saying...the problem with socialism is eventually you run out of OTHER people's money to spend. So in fact this is a decent joke way to represent Canada now that I think of it. Both sides hating their government spending. From what I hear about Canada, both sides seem to hate their government all the time, while in America we take turns barking about which side is worse depending on the president. Right now we got Trump so its time to bitch about the republicans. After trumps term (or second), america may vote in a liberal, then we can complain about the democrats, and so forth.

I think you might have stroked out halfway through reading it. Or just failed basic reading comprehension.

It literally states "not really representative of the truth". They're jabs at how anybody looking in can oversimplify the point.

It literally states "Corrected slightly", which states directly that they're modified.

Yes, they are written from the stance of a Democrat and Republican government...a change I opted for as I classify the governing styles as oppose to the voter.

That is literally a saying I've never heard before. It has as much bearing to me as the phrase "the problem with cost cutting is that eventually there's no more staff to fire". I couldn't tell them apart from a phrase made up on that spot (which my example literally is).

I'd say it's a better representative of your phrase is the USA given how you guys have a proportionately larger deficit. I mean, if there's any representative of spending addictions in the world, the USA is way up there.

Certainly you guys are less balanced in how you distribute your wealth. However, you guys just don't like paying for things whereas other nations tend to balance their books.

For example, if Canada scaled up to the USA in population (and linear scaling in deficit), we'd run ~200 billion a year in deficit (contrast your ~700 billion). In fact, one of the countries most invested in social spending (Norway) only recently broke away from its tradition of running budget surpluses (and they quickly bounced back).

Canada has the people screaming at our government to curtail spending while the Republican Congress just voted in a ~200 billion/year increase to your deficit.

If you want to take the cynical look at it, Canada's typical electoral situation is that we can't believe, out of the ~35 million people, that we could find people as unlikable as those running for office. Our choices are almost always the "least evil" we have of our parties.

Rarely do we get excited for a candidate. We just instead get annoyed with the current party and vote them out so we can move on.

By comparison, I tend to see the USA get stuck more in the "us vs them" scenario because you only have two parties. You're either a Democrat or a Republican. There's no in between...especially in the last 5 years or so as the definition of the two begin drifting further apart.

As an example, just today Fox News' Sean Hannity (one of the most ardent defenders of Trump) has been named in court as one of three major clients of Trump's lawyer...the other being ex-Republican National Committee's Financial Chair: Elliott Broidy.

Broidy resigned after it came to light Cohen brokered an agreement between him and a Playboy Playmate (worth 1.6 million) after their extramarital relationship ended with a pregnancy.

I mean, I couldn't come up with this insane if I was writing for House of Cards. Reality TV has become reality at this point.

the jokes we will tell the younger generation is, yes, a porn star is suing the american president on the grounds of defamation. that's the punchline. i did what he said, i lied on tv, but he made it look like i was lying about something else and dammit i have my morals, im a porn star.

anyway. kirant, our last several elections were also 'lesser of the two' bad guys. the issue is that if you wanna make tons of money, you go do that opposed to running for a government job. that and the people you want to run, either dont, or cant wedge themselves into the crapstorm of the media. trump did it by being totally anti, and it worked. and i think him being president is cause....well hes bored, he made his money, and now hes making laws so he can make more if he wants. plus the next democrat who gets into the office can spend the next 4 or 8 years trying to restore political correctness, then the next republican can destroy it again for people like me.

and im out for now

That's the most scandalous one. I mean, we're at the point where his lawyer is likely going to get at least put on trial.

However, we also have to include:

- A Communication Director, one of the highest ranks in government, literally lasted only 10 days and is on record for saying, to a reporter (without asking it to be off the record), that he isn't Steve Bannon because "[he's] not trying to suck [his] own c***" (his words, not mine).

- That it's not outrageous to think that President of the United States hired prostitutes to urinate on a bed. Purely as a "screw you" to the last president.

- High ranking staff members (ex - Head of the FBI) are finding out they are fired either by the TV or by Twitter (as oppose to, you know, a face to face meeting or a letter)

-- During the firing of the Head of the FBI, his staff tried to claim it wasn't about a Russia investigation...and was instantly contradicted by the President of the United States in his next interview (which, incidentally, led to Mueller being appointed to investigate it).

- His lawyer is being charged with crimes related to protecting the President of the USA
-- Said lawsuit against Trump's lawyer also ties Trump to Fox News.

And this isn't including the less insane things (such as claiming Obama wiretapped him and a communication advisor suggesting it might have been in the microwave, failing to condemn the KKK and David Duke instantly, and general insanity on Twitter).

Most of this you couldn't make up with a team of writers. Yet here we are. It's just one long political drama show at this point and you know someone is going to make a movie or documentary out of it someday. And we have to explain that, no, all this literally happened. The subplot with the porn star leading to Trump's lawyer leading to Fox's Sean Hannity wasn't made up.

It seems much more mundane. It's more along the lines of "I had an agreement. Now, after legal consultation, it looks like the agreement actually isn't valid so I'd like to get out of it".

No, the porn star actually lied on TV, i saw her admit it live. and again, its not about an act, its about a porn star sueing for defemation, surely you can see the joke there.

NOW, here's good news for you kirant, and all other very liberal canadians wanting possible warmer weather. California got the go ahead to collect votes. Yes just like Quebec tried 20 years ago, parts of california are SO liberal and hate trump SO much that they are proposing an actual secession to become its own country.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2018...ignatures.html

I, for one, cannot go to Cali because I've got a smoking allergy and am vehemently against druggies/potheads. Also my car's engine improvement, boosting fuel economy, reducing emissions and adding a little power, is illegal by california blanket laws. so as a car guy, knowing california is where emission standards COME FROM, wouldnt mind if cali left. Take hollywood and people like Joy Behar with you, see you at the UN meetings Cali.

Granted this will make Trump's wall considerably larger...

Not really, given that defamation is slander. Lying to prevent breach of an NDA doesn't create the sense of irony I think you're trying to call humour.

Point of order - I'm not really a "liberal Canadian". I would fit as centrist in Canada, maybe leaning toward the conservative side (as the Liberal party represents our "centre" party...NDP is a "left party" and PC are "right").

I find many aspects of our Liberal party (ex - willingness to not seek financial balance) problematic while I also dislike many aspects of the Progressive Conservative party (ex - unwillingness to sign any form of climate change legislation, social conservatism). My vote tends to flip between the two depending on the year.

And it has just as little ability to leave as Texas did when Obama got elected (despite all the angry yelling from Texans wanting to leave). Ho hum. Let me know if they actually form their own nation.
