Touhou anime

Quote:
The first “official” Touhou anime has been announced.

The anime project is to be produced by ufotable, and is intended as a celebration of the 10th anniversary of anime store Animate’s mascot character “Anime Tencho” (“anime store manager”), probably best known internationally for his appearances on Lucky Star, although otherwise his anniversary is likely a matter of supreme indifference even to Japanese anime fans.

Though apparently not an immediate indication of a full TV anime, speculation now centres on the prospect of a full anime now Touhou appears finally to have received permission for a formal anime adaptation (as opposed to the earlier doujin affair).
Discuss.

IS THIS WHY YOU KILLED A SUMMER DAY'S DREAM, ZUN?
IS IT?
BECAUSE IT SEEMS TO GO AGAINST WHAT YOU SAID AT THE TIME

Also, how is Anime Tencho going to work in Gensokyo?
Reader surrogate sucked into a portal by accident(/Yukari)?

I believe there was a fanmade anime, but it's nice to see something official. Sure took a while.
Now I'm wondering who the seiyuu will be.

As with all new series that are announced: I hope that they don't blow it.

(which to my mind would mean, first and foremost: NO Anime Tencho)

Might be nice to see at-least some of the voice cast from A Summer Day's Dream -- Aki Toyosaki (Yui Hirasawa in K-On) provided the voice of Suika Ibuki and I thought it a nice fit. Never happen now: Toyosaki's too "big", and have you ever seen a voice actress follow a role from one production company to another? Nope, me neither.

I thought ZUN didn't want to go commercial with Touhou... I rather see the continuing of A Summer Day's Dream than something new and commercialised.

ZUN killed it? Wasn't it just the lack of money that halted the anime?

EDIT: ZUN's comment on the thing:

ZUN replied that he is not involved in that entity, and added that he thinks it is a pen name for the people drawing art in the derivative work.

That's what I heard, that he didn't want to go commercial, which is why this surprised me.
I'm pretty sure that they stopped doing a Summer Day's Dream because of ZUN's disapproval (which might be a fancy way of saying there's no money left). I may be wrong, but that does make this slightly galling, especially considering how well it was going.
And I like Anime Tencho, but... really?

I've heard that ZUN didn't really mind the anime as long as it was kept doujin and something about not having "Touhou" in the title of the OVA. He has stated before that he has made something doujin (Touhou) and that in the spirit of doujin-ism everyone can do what they want with it, nothing is official and you can alter whatever.

And about Anime Tencho: if he is supposed to be running around in Gensokyo, this would at best be classified as a parody.

I know I'm plenty confused by this.

You know those doujins where Joe Bloggs is transported to Gensokyo somehow and has to adapt as a sort of audience surrogate? I think that's what Anime Tenchou'll be doing here.

And it raises the question of why Touhou and not, say, Lucky Star, in which Anime Tenchou has actually appeared beforehand. Although if this is a derivative work, money will probably be the answer.
