First of all: I'm digging the region already. The mix of a relatively tropical climate along with the potential focus on astronomy is reminding me of Hoenn, which in my eyes is a good thing.

Second of all: They really stepped up the 3D on this one. It seems like they'll obviously try to be more dynamic with the views as opposed to X/Y. This in combination with the tropical setting described above could make for a great atmosphere. Also, there are hints that provide themselves to the inclusion of one of X/Y's defining features: trainer customization. Definitely a step in the right direction.

Lastly, the starters/legends: I...actually like all three of the starters this time around, though I'm heavily leaning towards Rowlet and to a lesser extent Litten. An owl that for the first time since Bulbasaur possesses a dual-typing in its base form as a starter? Hell yeah, sign me up. The legendary designs are cool, but since I'm big on lions I'm leaning towards the Pokémon Sun legendary*.

Spoiler: show
*Solgaleo if you wish to go off of the recently trademarked names.

Based on how Gengar and Salamence had 0ivs and 0evs in the trailer, we can assume that Solgaleo has 0ivs and 0evs in all its stats as well. This means that Solgaleo has a base HP stat of 152. (That's more than Giratina!) and if we assume Sunsteel Strike is a 120 base power steel move, Solgaleo has a MINIMUM attack base stat of 145.

Also two new pokemon, Nekkoala and Iwanko, a normal-type koala pokemon, and rock-type dog pokemon respectively.

Nekkoala has a new ability, 'Definite Sleep (official translation pending)' which prevents it from being afflicted by all status conditions except for sleep, and Iwanko is listed alongside the three starters as having some kind of 'secret' within, which I think will be related to the synchro-evolution theory in some way.

E3 is also coming up, at which Nintendo will have something to say about Sun & Moon.

I must say that it's about time we got a koala Pokémon; It'll be be interesting to see how it's evolutions are handled. Iwanko looks cool as well.

Also, I'm relieved to see the Zygarde forms get included in Sun/Moon as it felt like there was still some off-hand chance that they'd get left out.

Yungoos is not a Pokémon that is native to the Alola region. It was brought to the region to help deal with the explosive population of a certain other Pokémon, and now Yungoos are commonly seen around the Alola region.
