the DVD and Blu-ray editions will be released on the same day.
DVD will be 29.99 and Blu-ray will be 39.99. I reckon that's a good deal, considering you can get 6 episodes of K-on! for the same price :3

I'm surprised it is already available for me in Europe outaide the UK, they been quick with this one. Although they only have volume one, in DVD and BD.

When they are all released i'll buy all episodes as a full boxset in Blu-Ray, i want to watch the entire series at once again, in BD.

The first two films have been given release dates!!

Puella Magi Madoka Magica: The Movie, Part I - The Beginning Story will be released October 6, 2012.
Puella Magi Madoka Magica: The Movie, Part II - The Eternal Story will see release on October 13, 2012, one week after Part I.

These two films will retell the story of the TV series with new animation spliced in with old animation, much like the Mobile Suit Gundam film trilogy and, more recently, the Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann movies. The third film, coming next year, will be a direct sequel to these films. Although how there can be a sequel when the TV series' finale was so close-ended is beyond me. There's probably gonna be some new animation and dialogue added to give the ending a sequel hook.

Who here is willing to bet money that some of the new animation will include the following?

Spoiler: show
A gorier death for Mami.
More elaborate Witch fights.
A bigger, cooler battle against Walpurgisnacht.
More Kyubey.
A scene featuring Poorfag-chan. Like, Madoka runs into her cardboard box house in a small scene or she can be heard bemoaning how rain keeps soaking her house and makes it hard to sleep at night.

Awesoooooommmmmmmeeeeeeeeee! :D
so much awesome stuff is happening in October, but i wonder when we'll be able to see them.
i agree with everything you just mentioned, maybe they could have small cameos of characters from Oriko and Kazumi Magica aswell :3
Spoiler: show
I think the sequel will focus on Homura in the new world from the last episode, it's the most likely scenario~

here's the new trailer for the browser game, it looks great :D

and the illustrator of the Madoka Magica manga will start a new manga related to the series around the same time the movies open in theatres~
a new "Noisy Citrine" side-story arc of Oriko Magica will start soon too :3
they'll both be in Manga Time Kirara Magica.

Alright. I FINALLY got Vol. 3 in the mail, after like a week of checking the mailbox at 4:00 sharp, then remembering that THERE'S NO POST ON SUNDAYS. And I think it was well worth the wait. I showed it to my sister as well, but even after watching episode 10, Homura still isn't her favorite character. HOW IS THIS WOMAN RELATED TO ME.
Oh, and this.

Wait, where'd the video go? Frikkin computer hates me.

The North American release got 3 volumes with 4 episodes each. All 3 volumes have reversible covers so you get all 6 covers.

For example, our Volume 3 comes with japans Volume 6 art, with volume 5 on the reverse. I just switched it over so it isn't so spoilerific.

More info on the first two films.

The theme for the first film will be sung by ClariS, who did the opening for the Madoka Magica TV anime, while Kalafina, who sung the ending for the TV series, will provide the second film's theme.

The films will be directed by Yukihiro Miyamoto, who worked on the Madoka Magica TV anime, as well as other shows including Monster, Hidamari Sketch, Bakemonogatari and Arakawa Under the Bridge.
