American Election 2016

Well, here it is, I'm finally starting a thread just so we can discuss the topic related to it, be sure to keep things civil and don't go overbroad, all that besides, the election in question is a pretty big one, I would say.

I greatly dislike both of the major candidates and find this election absurd overall. You know something is wrong when one of the candidates has an article on their website painting an internet meme as a symbol of white supremacy.

I have a pretty good idea of how I'll vote, but I still have time to think on it. Gary Johnson seems more appealing by the day, if only to send a message, though some of his policy is much more appealing than the alternatives.

Truth be told, if I have to choose who would be the next president, Hillary Clinton.

Well, she is the only one running who is an adult psychologically, as well as physically. ;)

Watching you guys have to pick between Trump and Clinton sounds like having to pick between cancer and an aneurysm.

So here are my choices:

Such as his "What is Aleppo" policy :)

Fair enough, he's human. Honestly though, nobody in your country is appealing. Stein has unrealistic goals, Johnson is interesting on some policies but really awkward on others...and there really isn't a candidate worth mentioning below that. We've said everything relevant on Clinton and Trump at this point.

I would also point people to this once again. It's a great tool to help learn the actual policies of the candidates:

They'll likely be one term presidents, either of them. Though I think it'll be hard to beat the legacy of Buchanan, who managed to miss several opportunities to sign in historic legislature (multiple of which Lincoln signed after) and mismanaging secession.

It's kind of sad...I really think the only reason Trump stands a chance is Clinton having such a massive history...and the only reason Clinton stands a chance is because Trump is so polarizing. Any other candidate (okay, maybe not Bernie Saunders) for either side and it probably is a walkaway victory. But out of 300 million people, they managed to find two of the most amazingly unpopular people to run.

(On the topic of Saunders - the internet loves him but I don't think you Americans are really ready for a more left-wing candidate. Remember that your Democrat is most of the world's conservative. Saunders would be centrist or left-centrist in other countries. Asking your average citizen to vote for that is asking to asking your county to back a Tea Party candidate: viable in small segments but not wide appeal. Though Saunders/Trump would have been amazing for the fact that you have to pick one extreme)

According to kirant's quiz, I should vote for Hilary. Which is good, because that's who I was planning on voting for. I don't want her to be president, but I'd MUCH rather have her than Trump.

My results in more detail for anyone curious. I wouldn't have said some of this about myself, but I don't really wanna go through and comment on the results so I'm just presenting them as is.
Spoiler: show

86% Hilary Clinton (Social, environmental, immigration, healthcare)
70% Jill Stein (electoral, social, environmental, immigration)
41% Gary Johnson (social, immigration, foreign policy)
25% Donald Trump (criminal issues)

64% Tim Kaine (social, environmental, immigration, domestic policy)
9% Mike Pence (electoral issues)

Another edit for parties:
87% Democrats (social, environmental, immigration, domestic policy)
80% Green Party (social, environmental, immigration, economic)
49% Socialist (social, environmental, immigration, education)
27% Libertarians (criminal issues)
20% Republicans (electoral issues)
11% Constitution Party (foreign policy and criminal issues) I have never heard of this party.

Extremely towards centralization
Moderately progressive
Moderately towards protectionism
Centrist on multiculturalism and assimilation
Slightly towards tender
Moderately towards keynesian
Moderately towards environmentalism
Moderately towards regulation
Slightly towards populism
Moderately towards collectivism
Strongly towards security (Thane will hate this one if he reads this =w=)
Moderately towards pacifism
Moderately towards isolationism
Moderately towards big government
Moderately towards socialism

As far as some specifics, I'm pro-choice, assisted suicide, and same sex marriage. I think weed should be legalized, taxed, and those in jail for it alone released. Not because I support its use but because I think it's a waste of resources to police. I'm for immigrants having rights and more access to work visas if they pay taxes and have no criminal record. Edit: Oh, and I'm for the dealth penalty, but only when there is no possible doubt of their guilt.

Well I represent many, but im alone on this forum. I'm voting for trump, not because of who he is, but by the results he will bring. If he does in fact drop our debt and improve our dollar as well as education, i think he could go down as one of the best presidents ever. Who he is now doesn't matter, history will judge him on his actions. JFK and Bill Clinton were known as decent presidents and they both had affairs.
I am a capitalist, do what you want with your own money, for the death penalty, assisted suicide, am pro-life and favor jail reform (against private jails). I fair in favor of a global market for trade, i consider myself an environmentalist and am for more effecient energy (but not to be subsidized with taxes). I am a christian (Catholic), am against tarrifs but for embargos depending on the case, and am also for immigration reform, that if illegals are not criminals they pay their fees and get to me citizens because America was formed from rebel immigrants in the first place.
