Clannad Coming to Steam in English

Yes, it's happening! The critically-acclaimed visual novel Clannad is finally getting an official English release. Sekai Project (licensors of other visual novels such as Narcissu, WORLD END ECONOMICA, Sakura Spirit and Planetarian) announced today at the Japan Expo 2014 that they have acquired the rights to translate, produce and release Clannad in English via Steam.

The version licensed is the Full Voice version, with complete Japanese voice acting. No release date has been announced.

Well, that's really cool. Glad the VN genre is finally being seen as viable outside of Japan.

The market for them has grown exponentially larger in the past decade since companies like Hirameki International tried their hand at it. Games like Katawa Shoujo and If My Heart Had Wings have likely done a lot to help.

Maybe in time, anime based on visual novels will be more popular here.

I desperately wanted to play that game.

Then I found out it's not what I thought it was.

Now I don't want to play it. That game can rot in Japan for all I care.

Lol. Same here. That's why I didn't even looked for Monogatari VN.

About the topic. It was about time indeed. Hope they get more VNs released on Steam ^^.

Word on the street is that they are going to slightly touch up a really bad fan translation, so be advised.
