I've heard it's a pretty decent game for the most part. Certainly the SAO game I think looks the most fun to play, at any rate.

I bought Final Fantasy VII yesterday and after about 7 hours play time today I have just left Midgar. It's my first Final Fantasy game and I am in love

I'm now over 15 hours into Final Fantasy VII I believe (I've been away so playing has slowed down a bit) and it's still great. For anyone who hasn't played it yet, DO.
The graphics may seem off putting at first but, believe it or not, they still hold up. The low poly models and the way they are animated are full of charm and I fell in love immediately. Also the music is great. This is coming from a 2000s boi who's first console generation was the wii/DS and has most of his best gaming memories rooted in the past 5 years. I had never delved into the PS1 library before, have 0 nostalgia for the game and I still believe it to [so far] be a masterpiece.

The steam version can be bought for less that 10$ on G2A.com

Play it

Got myself a Super NES Classic Edition, finally. Gonna take the time out of the next few months to play a number of the games on it that I either haven't played before or lack significant playtime with. Primarily Final Fantasy VI, Earthbound, Super Mario RPG and Secret of Mana.

Yeah, my history of exposure to JRPGs is not the best, sad to say.

Touhou 16.5, Violet Detector.

I'm rusty when it comes to Touhou, but even so I think this is a weaker entry in the series. Some poor design decisions and missed opportunities I'd say.

In between sessions of Super Castlevania IV (which is surprisingly easy for an older Castlevania title) and Super Mario World (which I could frankly play a thousand times over and never tire of it), I've been making my way through Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars.

Its gameplay is a bit closer to Final Fantasy than I was anticipating (no surprise, it was developed by Square), but it's a pretty briskly-paced and enjoyable experience thus far, albeit a bit light on story and dialogue up to this point. The "timed presses" mechanic is clearly what inspired a similar mechanic in Mario & Luigi, so it's interesting to see where that particular series got some of its inspiration.
