Only saw the first 7 minutes or so, but here goes

Translations and script editing is pretty well-done, and the actresses can all act, that's for sure. Unfortunately, the voices themselves are unfitting. Yui sounds too womanly, and doesn't whine well enough. Ritsu's sounds a bit odd, but I can't put my finger on why. Mio is the best out of the group, but she also sounds strange in an undescribable way. Mugi isn't as bad as I thought she would be, but her voice still doesn't sound too good.

But are you sure this is legit? It could easily be a well-done hoax...

EDIT: This may be official; I found out just now that an English-dubbed version once aired for people in Hong Kong and Taiwan. This MAY be an official dub, but it's definitely NOT "leaked" in any way and it is NOT the dub that will be used for North American distrtibution.

Lip-flap match is good, but EVERYTHING ELSE STINKS. The VA's need to amp up their performances, the choices of VA's thmeselves need to match the timbre of the original seiyuu (to match the un-dubbed singing, if nothing else), and the scripting need a LOT of finessing (all they're doing is reading the fansubs, I swear!).

If this is any sort of Official dub, I fear it will kill this series for its intended audience.

I see the Animax logo in the top right corner. I've heard of them before, but cannot place them. Where is Animax a TV channel? Europe? (Oh Ghod This DIDN'T ACTUALLY AIR SOMEWHERE, DID IT???)

First off all, you gotta give me a bit of time to adjust to the news, BEFORE the topic of this thread, that K-On! is getting a dub.

One of the problems of taking a female character in an anime and translating it in English is that Japanese actresses have a voice that is virtually impossible to replicate! Their voices are squeaky, Snow-White high, and in the West, it is not commonly heard in professional theatre or radio! Not mention it sounds VERY weird for Americans! It's one of the reasons people hate the dub of Lucky Star!

Now... NOW I can comment on the video! *breath*

I'm glad this isn't the dub for American distribution. The acting IS good, but the voices have the same problems as Lucky Star did.
