Brushing Teeth

This is going to start with a rant. I'm 29 years old and I never knew that you're suppose to spit the toothpaste out of your mouth instead of rinsing it. Rinsing with water after brushing will wash away all of the fluoride on your teeth. So all my life I have been doing it wrong? Why doesn't it say that on the back of the Colgate toothpaste? Or does the toothpaste makers don't know that themselves? I wouldn't be surprised if my family doesn't know this because they never told me and the schools I went to didn't either. It's probably why I have fillings on my cavities. The things you never know until you're old seriously. End rant.

I read saliva will always wash away the fluoride no matter what you do so doesn't that mean you'll be swallowing the fluoride which is bad?
