I would use the M14 in my safe.

It's semi-automatic, so I won't be wasting my ammunition going Full-Auto. Plus it's a marksman type weapon, so I can rely on its accuracy.

Originally I wanted to use an M1 Carbine, like in the ZSG, but considering how difficult the ammo is to acquire, I had to change my mind. If I could snag a SOCOM II, that would be a blessing.

I would carry my Taurus .45 sidearm, because the .45 has the power to shatter bones and such, so headshots may not even be necessary with it.

My melee weapon...well if I HAD to use one, it would be the Crowbar...for uh...it's...application..yeah

I used to be a practitioner of Parkour/Free-Running, so my agility and speed would probably be my greatest assets, rather than a gun (I can sprint the 100m dash in 11 seconds flat). Also, having the high-ground over the undead would prove to be a blessing (under the assumption that the zombies aren't 28 Days Later style). I'd vault over a few cars, get across a speed barrier, jump a wall, and climb the ladder to the roof of the nearest supermarket. Hang there for a while, then once getting inside and grabbing food proved too dangerous, I'd move on. I doubt I'll be able to secure a vehicle and drive to the mountains.

Well, I had a plan when I lived out on the acreage, and haven't yet remade that plan entirely since I've moved. The plan out there was to just fortify the quonset* (Imagine a steel semi-cylindrical warehouse), which has more than enough room to keep a vehicle, a garden, etc etc, and it has a well, so water isn't a problem. The location isn't as remote as might be preferred (20km from nearest city), but it's better than being in the city, and if something comes up where we need to go to town, it isn't too far.
While the main part of the quonset would contain a vehicle or two, a huge stash of weapons, tools, water [pumped from a well], etc, the loft (a small second floor we built a few years ago) would be our fall-back area and sleeping quarters. The stairs would be destroyed [A fairly easy task] and replaced with a ladder. The area directly under the loft would be the part where we keep our stashes [weapons, food, medical supplies, etc], and would be heavily fortified in case of a breach of the main area. This area is accessible to the loft without venturing into the main area via a hole in the floor, which would be given a ladder as well. The quonset is also heated by a system using a 500 gallon propane tank, which in the event of an emergency could potentially be detonated if enough propane remains at the time.
Our weaponry would include anything we could get our hands on. As this is Canada, guns would be relatively hard to come by, especially as we live so far away from places that have them, and we're like the only farm on Earth that doesn't have a gun. However, weapons could include swords, bows (crossbow and composite), CO2 cartridge pellet guns (admittedly not much use), a plethora of melee weapons [tools] in the quonset such as crowbars, saws, etc, a large amount of gasoline and oil, and pretty much anything else we might find.
Our energy could come from many sources, as we possess wind, solar, fire, and petroleum generators. [By your powers combined...]
Transportation would most likely be in three forms: Bicycle, motorbike, and car. We have plenty of trucks that would certainly have potential use, but they're liable to use up far too much gasoline.
Surveillance cameras could be improvised easily, radio communications and walkie-talkies are also available, we have hundreds of trees that could provide fuel and warmth if they are able to be scavenged, we have a greenhouse and garden, which wouldn't be much use on it's own due to it's obvious lack of fortification, but the plants could be easily transplanted and grown in the loft, we have a huge stockpile of meat in the quonset, and a large stockpile of non-perishable goods in the house.
I would list the people I would have with me preferably, and their likely purpose, but I wouldn't want to offend anyone by their omission. Jobs, however, would include mechanic, medic, general director [the leader type guy. Very carefully chosen, and kept in check by a series of constitutional rules], information director [keeps everyone informed of the general situation, takes stock of items and such, keeps track of information, etc. As you can probably tell, I'd be aiming for this job. ^^], surveillance, weapons (due to how things work out, the guy I have in mind for mechanic would also take this job), someone dedicated to keeping morale high and spirits up (this one would be either a secondary job of two people, or possibly a full-time entertainment coordinator), someone in charge of resources [food, water, power] (possibly two people), scavengers (more than one is necessary), sentry (possibly same person that does surveillance), someone to do the miscellaneous work needed (probably the youngest), and possibly people to enforce the rules (though this can be a collective effort, but full-on democracy wouldn't work as much in this situation). Other jobs may be created/changed/removed as the situation requires.
Let's see, though... That works out approximately 13 people. Yup, there should be enough space for that many people to sleep and work. Huzzah, it all works out, assuming I would be able to get the right people together that I have in mind, or someone close to it.

hmm now i think of it i wold get a regiment of soldiers and hole up in area51, bringing along at least 50 platoons worth of tanks and at least 40 squadrons of stealth bombers, and at least 30 squadrons of Fighters, and as for ground forces, i would asign 1/25th of my ground forces as snipers, giving them M16EBRs with any and all attachments available to them, for ground assault, i would give them XM8s with any and all attachments, also giving at least 4 frags, 2 flashbangs, and 1 smoke to each soldier, as for ammo count, at least 6 extra clips of ammo and 10 clips for the snipers.

then i would also mass at least 1k worth of engineers and mechanics, at least 1k of medical workers, and also build factories to supply the soldiers, tanks, medics, airforce and anyone else, finally i would gather enough civilians, both men and women, so the population wont decrease too much, keeping somewhat of a constant.

but before all of that, i would make a underground city, where everyone will reside

Stopping power is unnecessary, the target can't feel anything. The Full-Auto setting is a hindrance, but could save your life if you become cornered. Plus the ammunition is still plentiful, and more transportable than Shells, in fact you could probably carry 350 rounds of 5.56, opposed to 50 Shells.

The recoil vs accuracy of an M16, is far superior to a shotgun. Each bullet has the potential to score a headshot, one bullet per zombie. The efficiency of the gun would outmatch a shotgun.

Not to sound pretentious, but using a shotgun will get you killed, if not because you missed the headshot and only took out most of the chest cavity.

Thank you freeman! I knew you were on our side (Me & Jill Valentine) BTW the shotgun is only effective in close range... you' d have to let them get close to you if you want to get precised shots.... And considering the fact that the zombies are slow, it' s much easyer to take them out with an M16 from the distance... althought it requiers you to be a skilled marksman... training, training, and training...
