This was a some what popular thread in the old forum so I would be glad to re post it (as it is my favorite anime)

Clannad is an awesome anime that make you laugh, and even cry. In my opinion it is the best anime to ever come from Kyoto Animation (lol because i'm saying this on a lucky star forum). It is the only anime to ever make me shed a tear, and it hosts the best anime character of all time... Fuko.

wll many animes made me cry, actually im watching clannad, ive seen 6 episodes so far, but the anime that has made me cry most of the time not for how sad it is but how happy it ends or something is Cardcaptor Sakura. lol idk i always rewatch the anime and reread the manga and i always cry , but anyway i will just keep watching clannad and indeed with the little bit ive watched so far wow, fuko is just a heart-catcher moe-mistress :D

Um...I started spontaneously singing Dango Daikazoku in Chem...man...that was a big mistake...I ended up crying for like the 4th quarter of the class....and I was like...real...CRY cry, not some fake "yawn tears". And it was...like...people were asking if I need tissues or something...

I cried because not too long before...my friend and I (and also one other person) were arguing over what's right and wrong...and they chose what was so undenyable wrong. ...well...I guess......

I don't think there is one yet~ But yes, it was sad. It made ~After Story~ more sad, considering it was just the movie, extended. Especially that one episode after [Hikari-chan writes spoiler]~ <3 We need a spoiler button, please! >-< Kind of hard to discuss without it~ =D;

When Fuko's ghost vanished during her sister's wedding. When Kotomi got her present in the suitcase. Then during After Story when Tomoya realized he had to step up and be a good father, then a few times during his flashbacks with Nagisa. Finally, when Tomoya made up with his father.

How could you have not cried when... Nagisa died when the snow stopped them from going to the hospital, or when ushio died in Tomoya's arms once again in the snow storm! (damn you Okazaki curse... Damn you!!!!!!)

Well here's why I didn't.

I knew that Nagisa lived in the true ending, so it didn't bother me too much when she died. And Ushio's death didn't have time to set in, the mood wasn't built up properly, and I already knew she lives like Nagisa does. Well...no Ushio's death was kind of sad, but Tomoya collapsed and then BAM, other world happens. No time to cry for Ushio.

well I don't know how you knew that she would live in the end but I'm guessing that you might have looked it up, but since I didn't know she lived in the end that was the moment that hit me hardest of the entire series.

You mean that whole "One year before" episode? I found that kind of cute at the end, the motivation that was given to Nagisa. <3

And About the OVA...

It's implied that it would be another TomoyaxKyou thing. It's not confirmed, but implied so.

Two things... The second season Ova is the one officially considered the episode being released in July, the 1 Year before was an extra. Second (and this I will need to put spoilers on) When Kyou, Sunohara etc. are at Tomoya / Nagisa's apartment, Kotomi suggest there is not just one alternate universe (the lonely one with the wishes of everyone), but there are many (tomoyo + tomoya universe of instence). After she says this someone suggests maybe there is another universe where Sunohara and Kyou are dating, they both quickly deny the possibility saying that could never happen. This all and all has lead me to believe that since the next Ova has something to do with Kyou, that that small dialogue in after story could be a hint to the plot of the Ova. Of course at the moment it is all speculation

i spoiled a few things for myself already. kinda hate myself after doing it too lol. but im sure theres a lot more to it. im only ep 6 of after story so far.[hr]I just found a scale model of a toyota soarer with clannad decals. and a miata roadster with lucky star!! the miata has two sets, one for a black miata and one for white. i happen to have a black one thats unfinished sitting around. my two fave things rolled into one![hr]this is gonna make it a triple post, but whatever.

i finished teh series like 130 this morning. i couldnt bring myself to go to sleep until i knew what happened.

best anime series ive ever watched. i REALLY enjoyed other series like Neon Genesis Evangelion and Fullmetal Alchemist, but this series is just EPIC.

Rofl, you know, The first Clannad show had mostly "happy" parts and very little sad parts, then at the Clannad After Story, It's mostly sad parts and very little "happy" parts, so I guess they balanced the whole series out :D

one that takes place during events one year before season 1's start (after season 2), a summary of the whole story, and another Ova coming out July 1st.

some of the girls have "something" a bit strange about them, fuko was a "ghost", kotomi's parents were... like super genius people who wrote a EXTREMELY important report but her past is really troubled... only gotten up to there atm, wonder whos next if there is a next?

Eh thats really not the plot. It has a little to do with that, but it has more to do with how Tomoya affects their lives.

episode 23 of clannad is just a summary, episode 24 is an ova and it has to do with tomoya being in an alternate universe where he dates tomoyo (Clannad: Another World, Tomoyo Chapter). episode 23 of after story takes place a year before clannad does (so tomoya etc are juniors, nagisa a senior) and episode 24 after story is a summary.

the newest ova is gonna be the kyou arc (Clannad: Another World, Kyou Chapter). im anticipating this one (watched some parts of this arc from the game). If i can find the dvd im buying.

I watched it, and yes, most visual novel movies aren't that good of quality. It'd be great if you could at least give some good criticism on it rather than bash it. There were good parts to it, mind you, and I didn't care about the flare or that fact it wasn't produced by Kyoto Animation.

Most Visual Novel movies just summarize the entire season of the anime, and yes, they occasionally "cram" it, but it's like a longer recap, not much of a "movie" to say.

Okay so you finished the series. now to explain the orbs...

an orb is made when a really good or happy event happens. if you catch one of those orbs you get to grant a wish. in reality, nagisa DID die, but since tomoya helped so much people, he was able to get a lot of those orbs. i forget where, but he wishes that nagisa didnt die and bam, his wish is granted.

if you play the clannad game, the first time you play through, nagisa dies. the second play through you have to help everyone out and collect like 17 orbs or something, then you get the true ending.

my fave scene in the final episodes was when hes back at the bottom of the hill, wondering if he shouldnt have met nagisa

The most touching parts of the series would have to be Nagisa's Arc. Despite that her arc comes throughout the entire series, it's still greatly touching, especially due to the happy-go-lucky times everyone had together.

Episode 18(?) was a nice one also, not the whole Kyou/Ryou crying part when they decide to give up on it. It just kind of occurred to most people that it would never really be, and they'd just stay as friends with Tomoya. Tomoyo doesn't necessarily "give up", but she really respects Nagisa after this.

I'd say the After Story really is the best part of Clannad...since canonically Tomoya chooses Nagisa.

When Tomoya first started smoking and gambling over Nagisa's death, I began to start hating him for that. And then how he smokes and treats Ushio... But when they later go on that trip, there was a huge change in Ushio, and did I cry when he finally understood her. ;_;

And the fact that she went into a fever and wanted to go back to that place with her father... It's a serious cry moment there. Ushioooooooo... ;-;

so after kotomi gets back to her self she finally goes back to school to meet up with "the bad person" who gives her a suitcase that was from her parents, the suitcase was traveling many countreis untill it got into "the bad person's" hands, in the kotomi opened the suitcase and found a bear and a letter, appernatly the paper she burned wasn't a copy of the important paper but a bear cataluge. after kotomi read the letter she realized she was crying all these years for nothing. so after hat they were planning to celebrate kotomi's birthday with all her freinds and other happy stuff :)

It made me Cry, Somewhat into shock and Yell very loud..Also made me huff and puff for a bit. :( Very Sad..

yes!!!! This anime I originally got from Swizzle. It is a very sad anime similar to clannad in many ways. I completely roccomend this because it is prob the second saddest anime ever.

did anyone purchase teh licensed sets? they kept it subbed. it woulda been nice to hear it dubbed, but at least theres some really good fan dubbed videos on youtube.

I generally don't like dubs, especilly the female voices since the femalevoices in animes tend to a voices that. Normal person wouldn't have (eg konata) and the rubbers have plain regular voices (wendee lee sounds the same in every dub -_-)(or similar at least)


Anywys on the topic of clannad, I was playing the begining of the visual novel and... It... ITS EPIC!!!!!

personally i find it more convenient for dubs. i admit, there are a lot of terrible dubs out there, but i really cant help it since i can only understand elementary level japanese.

other than wrong pronunciations in dubs, everything else is fine for me.

but these fan dubs are very well done imho.
