Yay, christening the new forum with a Dune thread! =3
Dune be the best book ever, and all ye who haven't read it need to. I'm actually rereading it at the moment, and it's twice as good as I remember. ^^
[Also, with this post, I now possess the highest post count! Mwahaha! >=D]

I hear the first book is amazing, but the sequels don't even compare.
I'm thinking about borrowing it from my friend, I mean, Star Wars was born off of Dune so it has to be good.

Yay, a non-Dune fan that knows about the connection to Star Wars! I <3 you. XD
And I personally loved all 6 books more or less equally. God Emperor was slow and philosophy heavy, but I like philosophy, so I was fine with that. =P And from speaking to Dune fans, I've found the most common favourite book of the series to be Heretics, the 5th book. I will admit, though, the book most focused on plot and least on introspection was probably the first book.
The books by Brian Herbert and Kevin J Anderson, however... make me vomit. =P

I definitely need to read Dune, I think I'll borrow it from my friend this weekend.

I remember when i first read Dune.. *Sigh* i wish i could read it for the first time all over again. Any of you guys read George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series? They were and continue to be the best fantasy since the Lord of the Rings

I've found it to be a brand new experience each time I read it, miself. So many intricacies it's hard to catch them all on the first time through.
And I've not read it, but I've heard a *lot* about ASoIaF. It's on my Do Want list, but I've not yet actually picked it up.

Yeah I feel the same way its just there are some plot twists that I really wish I could have experienced for the first time.
