Hm..well, I don't watch -too- much anime. Generally I prefer light novels to manga. They're pretty similar in tone. You should try reading one sometime.

But if I had to pick... I guess the anime adaptation of the Full Metal Panic novels wasn't so bad. I... I kinda liked Fumoffu during its run, I guess. Not that I'm a big fan or anything. This is more of a question for Konata.

1. You mean besides the obvious? I can pretty much use her as a living guidebook for what I should never do with my life. But I guess I can give her more credit than that.

I guess she's taught me how to be a smart shopper, to an extent. The things she buys are useless, but her methods can actually save you some trouble if you apply them to real things.

And maybe... you could say she helps me loosen up sometimes. I'm not saying that it's good to be like her, but I guess I have a little more fun than I would if we weren't all together.

As for my question

I'm writing a story about fantasy/action and I wanted to know if you like it? It's on the light novel level as far as writing style goes. Heh it even includes you, kagami-sama (srry but I prefer konata, perhaps because of her "otaku"ness as I myself am one, but a active one. I play sports, help out around town, good grades, many friends, etc)

Anyways my story is over in the "media" section of "Lucky Star" and titled "should I go through with this?" or something along those lines, tell me what you think please

Well of course it's up there. I mean, it's a classic after all. I think that was one of the only times I ever became super-absorbed in a video game for a while. Not that I could get away with that now. I remember Tsukasa would always run and hide when those headcrab things would show up...[hr]

It'd probably be best if it were a practical meal that I could serve to myself or my family when there are no options for dinner. Any kind of curry or rice dish would probably be good, though I wouldn't mind the ability to prepare sushi or an entire sukiyaki setup. Those would just take a lot of time. Yeah, it doesn't need to be elaborate.

It's...not that I wouldn't mind being able to bake cakes or other desserts like my sister can, it's just... well, being able to make that all the time wouldn't be very beneficial to me in the long run...

It's called lucky star because the japanese name is raki suta, with a silent "u". Raki sta? Lucky star? I'm fairly certain it doesn't translate to anything even close, it just sounds so similar that people would end up calling it lucky star anyway.

Of course I'd call the cops in that situation. I'd have to be a total idiot to just accept her apology and let her go right after she went nuts and tried to kill my friend. Isn't that what any sane person would do?

Miyuki lives in the Tokyo metropolis area, and the rest of us live close by each other in Saitama prefecture. Miyuki's train home goes in the opposite direction from ours. Since we can head home together and we live closer, hanging out is just easier for us. It's not like she doesn't like us or anything. There've been lots of times where the four of us all hung out anyway.[hr]

Miyuki's going to med school, so we won't wind up in the same college.

I'll cope the same way everyone does in this situation. I'll keep in touch, and make new friends. It's gonna be sad to say goodbye to my high school days, and it's gonna be hard not being able to see my best friends every day anymore, but it's not like I'm going to college in America or something. I'm not "losing" anyone. There's a good chance that we won't wind up too far from each other, either. Plus, I dunno what the chances are of me dorming in college. Neither of my older sisters did.

If I do wind up far away from everyone... well, I'll call them often. We call each other a lot already. Plus, I'm sure I'll make new friends at college so it's not the end of the world or anything.

It's not the stupid questions I'm filtering (though I feel tempted sometimes), but the spam. You know the difference, right? This isn't your chatroom. I don't wanna have to say it again.

Um... not all of them. I've gotten through the early ones, but I don't always read a series straight through. It's easy to get distracted by other books. I hear volume 10 has been on hiatus forever.

They were a good read, though. An interesting concept and a witty narrative, plus a variety of characters and situations. It keeps you from being bored. If you can't stand first person narration though, I wouldn't go for it. Also the narration can be a little too pervy at times.

I watched some of the first anime episode, just to see how much they'd changed it, and it's almost no different from the novel. I really wish Konata would give the books a chance.[hr]

I think I get your usual variety of crazy dreams. A lot of them involve school, or my future, or me having a really weird job, or weird people bothering me. I guess that shows a lot about what's on my mind. Sometimes my dreams have my friends in them too, but I'm pretty sure that's normal.

Every now and then I'll dream about what's on TV if I fall asleep in front if it. When I wake up it's like I watched the program, only I was in it. Isn't it weird when that happens?[hr]

I'll read a light novel if the concept interests me and especially if the reviews are good, but I've gotta admit that I'm a little more inclined towards the original ones and not the ones based on anime. Blame that image on Konata. Not that anime-based ones are bad. You'd be surprised how many anime are actually based off of light novels.

I don't actually remember what my first one was, but I'm pretty sure it was FMP that got me hooked. I'm still hooked.

Patricia-san and Hiyori-san are two grades lower than I am, so Tsukasa and I haven't really gotten to know them as well as well as we did Miyuki and Konata. The closest I got to them was during rehersal for the cultural festival. Both of them are pretty eccentric, and Patricia-san in particular can get on my nerves like Konata does, but I think they're good people overall. We all had a lot of fun together at that time.

They're more Konata's type though, which is why she's still closer with them than I am.[hr]

Hasn't the first Haruhi novel been translated into English by now? That one appeals to a lot of people, you could give it a try.

Hm... looking over a wiki now to try and find ones that've been published in English. There aren't a lot, are there? That's too bad.

Well, there's the "Kino no Tabi" series. I've read some of that, it's actually pretty good and thought-provoking. But it looks like only one volume was ever made in English. Looks like the "Slayers" series also has a few books out, and that's got a broad appeal. "Ballad of a Shinigami" is pretty interesting. It's like a collection of short stories about how people deal with death from a Shinigami's perspective. Looks like that one's only got two books in English. Same with "Strawberry Panic"-- not that I'm really into that! Konata just recommended it and I was trying to be open-minded... that's a school series that's a little... uh... different? It looks like you'll be getting "Spice and Wolf" later this year, and that's a nice series.

I see a couple of otaku-centric titles that I avoided... man, you guys really don't have anything, do you? Honestly, all people care about these days are anime and manga! Well, I'd say that if any of the titles I mentioned interest you, you should go buy one. If you encourage the industry, they might come out with better books in the future.

Come on now, that would be immature of me. I only give it to her because it's what she deserves. Okay, every now and then I guess it feels good to actually get her at her own game. That seems like an inevitable phenomenon in all media, doesn't it? Books to anime, anime to manga, manga to movie - it seems that there are a lot of interpretations that fall short of the original compared to the faithful adaptions. I don't watch too much anime, though I have caught a few series based on novels I've read. I can't say I like it when the original content is changed, say, for the sake of appealing to weird otaku tastes instead of story elements. Sometimes it annoys me when it seems like they just turned a novel into an anime for the sake of having an anime, and they skimp on the production quality and make the story look boring. Still, there's not much you can do about it. It happens all the time and I guess it'll just keep on happening.

On the positive side, having an anime made might give exposure to the light novel it was based off of. Apparently, those with enough "love" will check out the original if they like the anime. But I guess that rule doesn't apply to everyone...

I guess you could say I'm a little old-fashioned, since most of my favorites are the scrolling type. They're not as popular since the whole "bullet hell" thing became more common. Most of my favorite shooters are what I play in arcades. Some of them have a 2-player mode, and sometimes I can count on Konata or Tsukasa to join. I should rephrase that, I can't really count on Tsukasa in that setting.[hr]

I never really saw it as drifting. I've known Kusakabe for a long time, but we've never been really close. It's not like we don't hang out anymore. If this is a matter of where I go to eat lunch, well... since middle school, Tsukasa and I haven't been in the same class. It's nice to be able to hang out with her at school. There's nothing wrong with that. Besides, after 5 years in the same class, a change of pace is nice.

about the accent changing thing...


when i moved to america when i was 6, it was hard even though i was only 6, to adjust the accent since its just so different, as far mouth movement and shapes go

for example in japan theres a sound thats sort of inbetween ra and la, its hard to explain but its almost smack in the middle of the two

well thats just an example but apparently i have no accent when i speak spanish (thats what teacher and other spanish students tell me at least)

its all a matter of speaking the language alot and letting your tongue get used to it
