View Full Version : Kagami Yoshimizu's role in the anime
Droote

We all know that Kagami Yoshimizu made the manga of Lucky Star, which later became adapted to anime.
I just wonder how much control did Kagami Yoshimizu have of the anime? Clearly some liberties were taken in the animes and the producers added a lot of stuff to it.
Did KyoAni be like "Here's a lot of money for letting us use Lucky Star, and now we will do whatever we will with it" or did Kagami Yoshimizu have to be with the producers to tell them how to do things and be more with the production of the anime?
Note: I have only read the first manga, so I don't know what more was used from the other volumes (if there was anything at all).

Nyamo.
I don't think he had any greater role in the anime than any other manga-ka does, they may have run things past him but for the most part it would have been KyoAni running the show, chosing what to adapt and what new to make. Manga-kas rarely have that bigger input on anime adaptations.

Kagami Yoshimizu-san was supervisor for the anime. He had a fair amount of control, but I'm glad he gave KyoAni the degree of freedom that they had.

Kagami Yoshimizu's role in Lucky Star, eh?
"Role", as in: "Do a barrel role!"?
No? Well, I was close, right! You were talking about "Role" as in "Roleplaying Games"? No!? I give up! Someone tell me! (Random Whispers)
Oh, thanks dude. His role? Don't have a copper penny of a clue! Probably bossed people around, or forged his euphoria into Lucky Star, or something!
Ok, I lied! I don't have a scratch of dirt of an idea!

Not to mention having the only tearjerker moment in an anime I wil NE-VER shut up about.

Or maybe they could do it as they apperantly do with the Haruhi anime, where you blend new episodes with the older ones. (Well, that's what I at least think they do on Haruhi).

It's a monthly manga, where a new chapter is released every month, and the anime hasn't been updated for two years. Odds are, there's gonna be plenty of it to mix in with some anime only stuff.

Kagami was simply jotting down life experiences that came to mind with no cartoon exaggeration of any kind, and happened to use iconic designs for the characters. The fact that it's a cartoon had no effect on the subject matter. It;s sort of like how Carl Barks wrote and drew the Scrooge McDuck comics- he said he saw them as normal people who happened to have beaks!

That's why I like the Sketchbook 4koma (or at least, I do when they steer away from doing puns in a language I can't understand).

Konata and Kagami have VERY strong hints, but its always up to the fans interpretation. Which i picked up as being 'more than friends' due to body language. Same idea with Ritsu and Mio, its heavily hinted in episode 13 and another one, but its up to fans interpretation.

It wouldn't suprise me if he didn't, as looking back it seemed... kinda removed from the series as a whole (as opposed to regular SoL, the characters were in a game, surreal dream sequence, surreal... frog sequence, etc). The closest was probably the first part, and even that focused on the dog (BAKA INU), rather than the characters themselves.
I think theres a bit that can be done on the subjet of Kagami Yoshimizu, if we extend it to his role in the non-4koma work, differences between the two, etc.

It's on the commercial break screens halfway through the episode.
And one time on Yutaka's lap.

I didnt know he was the cat until i got to the end of the manga. then it hit me like a ton of bricks! i always wondered what was up with the cat.
Me too! I was thinking: "What the hell is with this cat? it never appears in the show."
And it looks more like a yukkuri than a cat :p

Dissing nyamo-sama is luckystarsphemy!!! Not knowing what he was is acceptable, but not great.
Calling him a deformed cat head with a tail is pure outrageous!!!
lol

Hehehehehee you make me laugh.
Nyamo is Kagami's own "comic portrait" of himself that he slips into the comic now and then. And of course, the cat also appeared right before the commercial breaks for the show. You would never know this unless you wiki'ed the information, or read it somewhere else online.

In that one, he looks like Hiiragi Kagami. Just with warm clothes.

Speaking of Kagami... Is there a reason he used his name for one of the characters in LS?

You say potatoes, I say potatoes
You say nyamo, I say yukkuri
Anyways... I thought so too, but why did Kagami Hiiragi get his name, and not any of the others? Perhaps he identifies himself with Hiiragi?

I think he said that he had Kagami's personality in mind way before starting Lucky Star.

Kagami is a pen name, based on a character he created for an RP.
He later used a similar character in L*S
Hold on and I can fetch the source
