Rurouni Kenshin (translates roughly as "Kenshin the Wanderer") is an upcoming live-action Japanese-language film based on the Shonen Jump manga by Nobuhiro Watsuki. The film is due to be released August 25, 2012 in Japan.

The year is 1867 in Japan, and the dynasty of Tokugawa stands on failing legs. An invincible samurai, Kenshin Himura, walks a path stained by blood and carved into the bodies of his victims. Hated and feared by many, he is known as hitokiri battousai, The Man-Slaying Master of Sword Drawing. In retribution for his deeds in the past, he has taken an oath to protect those who are innocent, and to never kill again. But with a new order on the horizon, there arise those who seek to weed Kenshin out, forcing him to become the hitokiri battousai once more.

The film stars Takeru Satou (Kamen Rider Den-O) as the lead character, Kenshin Himura, with Emi Takei (Otomen) as Kaoru Kamiya, his love-interest and master of the Kamiya Kasshin style of swordsmanship. A teaser clip was released on December 16, 2011.
