About half year ago, I tried out 1CC (One credit challenge) on Gokujyo Parodius, and almost succeeded. The fifth stage killed me, damn. (->_<-)
I'm quite aware I'm playing too much Parodius (series are just so addictive). Ya know what I love about the series are the music stuffed in them, which consists mostly from those crazy classic music remixes.
I downloaded almost all the soundtracks of those series and had a very long but fun time to listen. (-lvl-) I was heading to the local library and borrowed few manga books along my visit. (Yotsuba, Chibi Vampire/Karin, Fruit's Basket and Ouran High School Host Club)
Back then home I digested the manga books down and returned to listen some more Parodius-music. This is where it became ridiculous... and oddly very entertaining.
Before I tell you how it happened, ya know that wierd fact that if ya watched too much same anime for like hours, ya suffer from the little symptom which makes your every thought and pictures in your mind look just like that anime's style/art. Or consisting of those characters or situations.
I listened for Parodius DA-soundtrack, and I had very funny thoughts coming up. I pictured Haruhi, Tohru, Karin and Yotsuba having crazy ride through Parodius-esque manga lands. Of course it sounds very wierd, but it's better than it sounds. I listened through that soundtrack. In fact, I established a little story for myself slowly when I listened to it.

In Japan, many people dream their new year dreams in that following night. Traditionally, the contents of the dream would foretell the luck of the dreamer in the ensuing year.
The world of dreams is unknown, and can go beyond imagination and reality. As we can discover from four differents girls' slumbers. First one was a blunt, poor teenager girl. The second one again didn't have a family, but still kept herself positive. The third was one was actually a vampire, but so peculiar that even her family was aware of it. The fourth one was the most ordinary one: a little girl which was still young and wanted to explore the wonders of the world, enjoying everything.
Even if being so different, they actually had, a same dream.
This dream totally was too odd and inexclicable to describe in means of reality: the gravity was all gone- you could just feel like flying away.In matter of fact, you could actually reach the space! The girls had powers to, oddly enough, shoot things, which they needed to get through this dream: everything, literally everything were trying to take them down. Some kind of unnatural force forced them to fly at the planets that came on their way, and had to survive their exploits, filled with so many strange and unnaturally absurd people.
So far, I've worked fully on four arcs for this roleplaying fanfiction forum game which I call Harmful Hatsuyume. (Harmful New Year Dream)
It's a roleplaying game where you take a role of you favorite character, guiding him through shmup-styled worlds of living anime craziness and tributes.
The four arcs for this series are:
1. Harmful Hatsuyume: ~From Dream To Fortune~
2. Fantastic Hatsuyume
3. Heartful Hatsuyume
4. Hatsuyume 120%
Here's how this roleplay game works.
1. You choose your favorite character from any anime series you know, and have to make him/her pursue and survive the crazy levels of new year dream, making it to the ultimate final boss. The main objective is to get the three new year dream fortunes, which are The Fuji-Mountain, a hawk and an eggplant, respectively, to ensure a good fortune for your character for rest of following year. Try to ensure your character gets a happy-go-lucky year by getting the fortunes. That's where you win this game. There can be only 1 to 4 winners, depending on amount of fortunes.
(Speaking of choosing from anime series only, I don't think that Touhou counts as one much, but I give it an expection for now.)
For instructions how to get the fortunes, see the third rule.
2. The only weapons you have is your pieces of good writing, and your knowledge and love on your chosen character. Try to keep them incharacter and wittingly use their skills as a weapon to get through the levels, since it's more fun and acceptable than overpowered cake-on-the-walk blast through the levels.
3. The role-play game is progressed by me writing out scenario's for each level one by one, all having a deadline. After showing them for you, you have to write your entry about how your character goes through that "dream level", or a boss, or some other event which happens to them. The well-written ones are given hints on how to get a new year fortune. This is only applicable to them, so even if you get to know where it is, don't try it, since it's not been given to you.
4. The characters start their journey from the moment they sleep in a new year, which progresses to somehow be involved with the mysterious force attracting them to it's destination, by an accident, or from a conflict.
As their journey begins, they enter a dog-fight scenario, where they fly through space, while collecting power and weapons to prepare themselves for the next level. This will repeat everytime you clear a level until the last stage.
A good bonus given to your character is that they have their dog-fight themes, which will be their own character songs! (For example, Karin from Chibi Vampire/Karin would have I Will Fight! Zouketsu Mask (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_D5U__X0brA&list=FLcgBRZ4vO8rDtRfi6L7Tc3Q&index=4&feature=plpp) as her dog-fight theme)
5. Each character has a primary weapon they start with, a missile, a range weapon and a laser weapon. There's expections based on characters, but this is the base for their arsenal of weaponry.
For more details, see this post. (http://forums.luckystarshrine.com/showpost.php?p=149228&postcount=12)
6. Here's some good details and questions to think and design for your character:
- How does she fly through his/her dream? Does she follow something, or is she holding on something? Is someone important to him/her taken away, etc?
- What unique or iconic traits of your character can be used on self-defense? Can they become humorous weapons which actually works on the enemies ahead?
Karin could, for example, use nosebleeding balls of blood as her missile, to blind the mooks along her way. This lends her more chances to evade enemy attacks. Don't worry, in dreams you won't run out blood, for example.
Shortly put: how would Konata or Nano from Nichijou, for example, be like in a SHMUP-game? What would be their weapons?
- Have fun with your character reacting to some absurd things or other events going on the levels. It could be very amusing depending on the character.
Right now, we start from the first arc, Harmful Hatsuyume. So far five character slots are open.

To claim a slot, send me a PM, or reply on this topic. Tell me quick introduction to your chosen character, and what are his/her weapons. You don't need to work on details much, small explanation is fine. As stated above, your character can be anyone only from anime series.
The role-play starts in a new thread when character slots are filled. I'll wait for two weeks.
