Valve have annoused that in 2012 a New Counter Strike game will be released for PC, MAC, PS3 And 360.

That means that you will be able to have Free DLC Content along with Cross Platform Gameplay with the PC, MAC and PS3 Communitys.
Whilst the XBOX 360 version will be limited to its won community and all DLC Will have to be paid for. Hurts doesn't it?

I feel worse for the PS3 community, since they're going to get their asses handed to them (since Valve doesn't do aim assist ever).

Not that I care either way, being part of the best platform which is PC.

I am very excited for this. I am a big fan of CS so I will surely buy this the moment it is released. For the PC, but that goes without saying.

Well I'm Canadian, I should join 'em.

Anyways, I've always liked VALVe's engines. So if they keep their style with this I'll probably enjoy it.

I'm so excited for this. If it's not just Condition Zero, I'll be so happy. I had a hard time choosing between MW3 and BF3 for my next shooter, but both of them had something very bad. BF3 has Origin and MW3 has no dedicated servers, but now that this is coming next year, I'll gladly wait those out for the new Counter Strike.

Take a look at those if you haven't seen them

Also, they have full mod support and have already given out the SDK to four teams (SDK will be available to everyone on release).

In Country Vietnam being one of the mods that will be available soon after release, and have even released a teaser trailer.

I'm still keeping my hopes up for the WWI mod. And i still dream of an ACW mod.

Iron Europe is steadily on its way, though it's likely to be the last of the four released.

Vietnam is inevitably going to be the first mod, followed closely by the one regarding the Pacific Theater. Next will likely be the one regarding the invasion of Poland (since you don't have to do nearly as much), and lastly Iron Europe depicting the western front of WWI.

Doesn't look like anything special, really. I think gamers have fired enough MP40s.

OT: I've never played CS before, but seeing how insanely popular Source is, I'll definitely pick this up. I just hope they don't forget to include the most important part of any game...

Hats!

A lot better than firing another m16 or kalishnikov series rifle.

I like the Vietnam war a lot, has a great background and I think it's not in enough games.

Compare the amount of Vietnam War games to pre-WWII War games and you'll see what the gaming market really lacks.

I love the Vietnam war. Though I would like to see a Korean War Game too. I've always wondered how a WWI game would get pulled off.

The problem with Pre-WWII war games, is that they're typically a bit slow and uninteresting outside of RTS and TBS. I'll definitely give the Iron Europe mod a try, but it most certainly will not be the main mod / game I'll be using.

I would prefer that slow pace. I might be a bit biased because of a serious problem of mine, being that i am unable to enjoy automatic weapons in any way, and find more fun in reloading than actually shooting. And seeing as i mainly prefer FPS's, i find the modern settings everyone seems to like repulsive and plain discusting. In fact, anything above single-shot weaponry is boring to some degree.

Thus, i rarely have much fun playing games, this makes me bitter and jealous.

And so i find the lack of pre-WWII games both annoying and confusing, does no one feel like me? Surely a single game developer would have an even remotely similar taste? But apparently not ....

And then another Vietnam War game comes with only M16's and AK47's .... sigh ....

WWI isn't a lot better. Everyone had a variation of the Mauser 98, Maxim, and mustard / chlorine gas.

WWI was one of the wars where everyone just copied each other's tech. WWII was one of the main wars where you actually saw a lot of diverse weaponry.

True, but those weren't automatic, atleast not most of the infantry equipment, that is a big part of what i prefer it for.

Not to start an argument, but WWII was pretty similar too with many almost identical weapons. These Weapons are very similar:

Kar98, Mosin-Nagant, Springfield, Arisaka.

And Gewehr 41/43, SVT-38/40, M1 Garand/Carbine.

MP18/28/34/38/40/41.

Bren LMG and Type 99.

Thompson was a bit original though, and BAR.

Oh well, i don't play much anyway so RO2 will perhaps be enough. And Iron Europe would probably last a good while too.

To start, I don't even think of the Japanese weapons in WWII as their own, since it's clear they based their entire designs off of other weapons. Funny you didn't mention the type 100 and Sten though.

Only argument I have with the rifles is the mosin nagant, as it operated in a very different way than the others. The Kar 98 was also a more advanced mauser 98, which in a way was the father to many of the other bolt actions seen through WWI and WWII. Though all of the rifles you mentioned were seen in WWI, and I already covered that.

Anyway, the SVT 38 and 40 were very different from the Gewehr 41 (though the 43 was did take a lot of influence from the soviet rifles). And to even put the Garand in there is somewhat laughable considering how unique (even today) the stripper clip ejection mechanism is, it also used the large .30-06. The M1 carbine (and its variants) were light weight rifles, while I wouldn't call them unique, they did inspire the use of rifles in more close range urban environments. If you are comparing the M1 garand to the carbine, well I'm not sure what you're on but it must be pretty strong.

The advancement of the Maschinenpistole series was basic enough, but I think you're going off of names. The MP18 and MP28 were indeed similar (though the MP28 was a copy of the MP18), as were the MP models 38 and 40 (and 41 though it didn't look anything like the mp40), but the MP18, MP34, and MP38 families were all very different.

Yeah, i forgot the Sten.

And yes, i made a lot of fast comparisions. Though they are more similar than you think. The G41 was inspired by the SVT, and utilized a stripper-clip feed system similar to a merge of the Lee-Enfiled and the M1 Garand. The G43 was also based on the SVT-40 with a box magazine similar to the M1 Carbine.

And many of the MP's were re-modified during the war to resemble the newer ones, even if the originals were very different. The MP18 were made to use 40 magazines and the MP34 existed in two models, one which led to the MP35, which was indeed different to the 40.

And both the SVT and G43 were gas-driven.

Every era has its similarities, but as I said WWII was probably one of the most diverse. WWI can't even hold a candle to it.
