Trains run on jelly:
Due to the inherent messy nature of running on top of jelly, the train companies must hire an incredible amount of window-washers, leading to the formation of unions, and two inter-galactic wars.
Trains use jelly for fuel:
The economy would be in an much better shape, as we'd be looking for alternate fuel sources, thus only discovering oil in 1999-ish. Now our Great-Grand kids have to deal with our current problems! :D
