The April issue of Kadokawa Shoten's Comp Ace magazine is announcing on Saturday that a stage musical adaptation of Kagami Yoshimizu's Lucky Star manga has been green-lit. According to the magazine, the play will have an all-new story. More information will be provided in the April issue of Kadokawa's COMPTIQ magazine on March 10.

A live stage musical? That is a weird route to go for an anime. Well this is exciting, but I wonder who will play the characters. Their voice actors?

Train of thought:
Lucky Star adapted to a stage musical
A graphic novel series adapted to a stage musical
Spiderman adapted to a stage musical (http://www.guardian.co.uk/culture/2011/feb/09/spider-man-musical-reviews-roundup)
Uh-oh. I've got a bad feeling about this.
Well, I'm keeping my expectations low. That way, if it is bad, I'll have expected it; if it's good, I'll go "Wow, cool! I totally wasn't expecting that!"

A long time ago (last year), I was planning to place an April Fools' joke suggesting a Broadway musical of LS, even worked out a vomit-inducing cast list (Rosie O'Donnell & Penny Marshall as Konata and Kagami) to raise the ire of the forum faithful, and springing the "April Fool's!!!!" in spoiler tags. But, other things distracted me and I didn't post.
I was resurrecting the idea for this year, when ....
This proves that Truth Is Stranger Than Fiction: a Lucky Star musical. Thankfully WITHOUT Rosie and Penny.

Perhaps when it is released in Japanese there will be subs for the play? I'm particularly looking forward to seeing what kind of story the play will have.

we don't know what it will be about, except that it will include the lucky star characters and have a new story.
It'll work like any other stage musical, it'll be performed on a stage, and include songs~

So they're singing a story or something?
About who plays the characters, can't they just use ultra-realistic holograms like they did with Hatsune Miku's stages. I really dont like cosplaying and the like, so the thought of someone trying to represent the LS girls by dressing as them would be kinda akward.

"What was that?"
"Nothing. Hi there! How are you!"
They better have updated anime and manga references, or heads gon' rollin.

Maybe a good way to tell is was there any other anime or manga turned into a music show and how good was it?

Now that I think about it.
I really hope this is done with Holograms. No offence to real life actors but with a concept like Lucky Star, holograms would work better than actors.
Just giving my 2 cents.
(Now this part here is just pure imagination, so you can skip anything below this)
I could imagine them announcing at the end of the musical the airdate for Season 2.

I know that they did a Phoenix Wright musical, so anything's possible. There's also Spiderman which others have mentioned here...
I recently read a 1210-page novel called Shogun by James Clavell, which has also been turned into a musical. That's a 1210-page book filled with all kinds of complicated plot twists and political intrigue, not to mention assassination by ninjas, condensed into three hours of song. I heard it didn't go so well.
I guess Lucky Star isn't the worst choice to make into a musical, but still. Strange.
Now that I think about it.

At first I thought this a weird idea but if they could make the 3-D even better than the Vocaloid concerts then this would be cool because it'd be the L*S characters we know exactly being themselves from anime instead of actors. I don't want it to end up like Sailor Moon live movie !!

A long time ago (last year), I wanted to put in jest April Fools' refers to the LS Broadway musical, also developed the vomit-inducing list cast (Rosie O'Donnell & Penny Marshall as Konata and Kagami) to raise faithful to the principles of the IRE, and the suspension, "April Fool!" in spoiler tags. But other things distracted me, and I do not e-mail.
