That's right, someone's making a "Full Metal Panic" movie!!!
....me.
Well, me and Shiraishi-kun.
We started a production company to make things easier. http://faultnerproductions.webs.com/ Not much for the moment, but then, there isn't much to say as of yet.
We're working on the script and funding at the moment. We will need crew members later on to help with the project, but it's not crucial right now.
Visit the site! Tell us what you think!! We love to hear feedback!! :D

Hey all. Shiraishi-kun.
To be specific, we are currently in the planning stages, which is where the script is penned, the cast is chosen, the crew is assembled and shooting locations are scouted for. This is the current crew roster.
Co-Director: Me
Executive Producer: Ann Doxia
Lead Writer: Me
Co-Writer: Marcel Rocha
Writing Assistance: Ann Doxia
Casting Director: Me
Production Coordinator: Me
Greenscreen Specialist: Solomon Rothman
Matte Design: Solomon Rothman
If you can contribute in any way, shape or form, let us know. I especially want to know if anyone is interested in voicing AL, the AI unit for the ARX-7 Arbalest.

By the way, I am also looking for SINGERS!! We plan on making English remix cover versions of the following Full Metal Panic! songs.
Tomorrow (Opening to Full Metal Panic!; opening of our film)
Sore Ga Ai Deshou/I Guess That's Love (Opening of Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu; credits song in our film)
Minamikaze/Southern Wind (Opening of Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid; credits song in our film)
Since these songs were all originally sung by female artists, I want to preserve that in our version. If you can sing well enough (and have a good-enough microphone), please send an MP3 or WAV file with an example of your skills to my email at CCharmanderK@earthlink.net

UPDATE: After a hiatus due to the holidays, writing of the film's script has resumed. The script now has the first ten-or-so minutes written out in full detail. It should be completed by the mid-March estimation.

UPDATE: We have the script's first draft 1/7 of the way complete. Co-Writer Marcel Rocha will also be our Mechanical Designer and Arm Slave Technician. Ann will be one of our CG Modelers and Animators. We will be using the free, open-source CGI/Special Effects/Video Editing program Blender 2.49. Shaunah O'Shaughnessy will be the singer for the film's opening theme, as well as the voice of Kurz Weber's M9E Gernsback AI unit. We are considering involving Vic Mignogna in this project. He will most likely voice for AL, the AI unit for the ARX-7 Arbalest.
We also have plans for movies based on or adapting Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, King of the Braves: GaoGaiGar, and the Pokemon video games. But that's only if Full Metal Panic! The Movie fares well enough.

Sorry for digging up an old thread. I just noticed this guy said he was working on a fan film and seemed to have never followed through...
I've got one in post production now. There's a trailer on the web site: www.fullmetalpanicthemovie.com (http://www.fullmetalpanicthemovie.com)

Yeah, things just kind of fell apart at the seams regarding Full Metal Panic. Nothing was working like I wanted it to. Honestly, I'm ashamed of the fact that I made such a ruckus over a silly pipe dream.
But your fan-film looks to be fantastic, and I pray for your success. At least SOMEONE is keeping the FMP spirit alive.

I got really excited when I started searching the web and found some of your posts. I wouldn't feel too bad about it; this is my 2nd time. I did a short "trailer" 2+ years ago that turned out to be an embarrassing disaster.
I worked on some additional projects after that and decided to give FMP another shot, eventually. This time it's an actual short film, I was prepared, and had a cast and crew with more talent and experience involved. We're trying to get a premiere at a decent con, but we'll see how that goes. Making movies is freaking hard.

It's damn fun, though!! Writing, directing, casting, etc.. :P
BTW Is this gonna feature Arm Slave battles? You got a budget and competent-enough CG team to pull those off?

Yes, there are arm slaves. They're not the focus of the movie, but what is there looks good. I've done all the animation myself using 3DS Max, but crowd-sourced the modeling.
