It's the ultimate rage quit.

Final Fantasy XIII, by far. Also, Borderlands turned out to be more of a loot-collector than an RPG... I had such high hopes for that game.

And I have to dive in there and say that Final Fantasy VI is the exception to this.

Also, my addition to this list would be... Bioshock (for it's poor mechanics and it's story that went and got dumb at the end) and GTA4 (when compared to it's predecessors).

The original metroid. Sure it's a classic and all, but not only is it freaking hard, 8-bit graphics make it easy to get lost, you have plenty of long vertical climbing parts, you can't crouch to hit enemies smaller than you, and each time you die you restart with only 30 health.
Metroid zero mission was much much better

Halo 2/3. Never have I seen such a waste of time unless you try to fix every rule to make it fun. Only time we managed to make it fun was when we decided to escort a friend (who had no clue what they were doing) to a target location.

yea those two were horrible, halo 3s mp was ok but still garbage. plus halo wars, this is a game that just shouldnt of been made

Actually, we found 2 was better...mainly because we had to invent the system similar to VIP, but more fun. The only good thing about 3 was that we painted the attackers Soviet Red with Yellow Emblems

To me it will be Oblivioin and Black & White 2. Both games for some reason are boring as hell. Oblivion is like MMORPG buth with just one player. And in B&W I just liked to build a city and grab some huge rocks and... >:D

MW2, And im not saying the games are overrated - I am a fan of hem. But the franchise is over rated: Halo.

Because theirs always one fucking annoying twat who thinks halo is the best thing ever created and compares every thing elce to halo.

As much as I love Halo, Its not the best games ever created. And if your one of the mental defectives who think it is and compare everything in existance to halo. I fucking hate you - get a life!

So... an rpg -_-
It's not exacly what I was thinking. I dont like mmo's because they are based on constatntly doing the same things: exploring and earning exp. Sure there are some good quest's there, but I can't feel any plot there. In Oblivion I had the similar feeling. At first I liked this huge world with, you could think, many possibilities. But after a few days of playing all those ruins, caves etc. were looking all the same to me. And in the later part of the game the monsters (like Ogres for example) became wery annoying due to their toughness. Without good spells or lots of spirit stones to load your weapon they were kinda immortal (I played my own class but rouge based). The main story wasn't that good too. Maybe I played RPG classics too much (like BG or P:T) so I became too critical for this game but it just dissapointed me. So in summary we have a game with huge world but too boring and schematic to explore and an average plot. At least graphics and music was very good. Also some additional quest's (especialy for the assasins guild) was kinda fun.
But that is just my opinion. :)
And BTW - sorry for my english but it's a hard day today.

i think CoD, Halo and StarCraft II and especially WOW are totally overrated...

Why CoD: It's nothing new! Always the same thing, with slightly better graphics every new release... Many casual gamers play it. I have no problem with casual gamers, but in this case, they are really annoying! think they're cool and pros and so on... but they aren't!

Halo: almost the same as CoD... always the same :( It's just running around and killing => i don't like it... crysis had at least the nano suite, but halo is just... an ordinary shooter

StarCraft II: same problem with casual gamers...

WoW: hell... simply... no!

Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow. So many people i know call it "One of the best Games ever", but i don't think so. I think it's kinda boring. But maybe it's just not my case.

Mass Effect is everything good in modern RPG story telling. (Mass effect 2 is not)

I like Halo 1,2,and Reach.That's the only Halo games I really like. Everything else is bad,overrated trash.
I think MW2 is overrated,hands down.
Why all the WoW hate? It's improved alot since Cataclysm was released.

I actually have a number of most overrated games.

First off (and you can lynch me if you want), I never liked either of the first two Metroid Prime games. Simply enough, I'm a man of action. When playing a game, I like getting into the thick of things, pulling out my trusty weapon-of-choice and laying the law down on some mooks. But with the Prime games, much of your time is spent exploring (which I actually did enjoy to some degree) and searching through endless corridors and wide-open areas just to find your fricken' weapons, which you inevitably lose ten minutes into each game, if not sooner. And Echoes featured too much backtracking for its own good.

Next is The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Now, I adore the Zelda franchise for many reasons, mainly that they are challenging!! I LOVE challenging games (why do you think I got Mega Man 9/10 for WiiWare first chance I got?)! But the problem with TP is that it was to darned easy, to the point wherenit bored me and I actually gave up on the whole game before completing the third dungeon.

I also cannot stand to play Mario Kart Wii for one main (and fatal) reason: the items are too godforsakenly overpowered!!! Not to mention unbalanced!! I cannot begin to tell you exactly how many times I've gone from 1st to 12th place in ten seconds simply by way of a spam attack consisting of a Bullet Bill, a Blue Homing Shell, a Banana Peel, and a Lighting Bolt. Drives me NUTS!!!

2. Overrated is a broad term, if you think Half-Life 2 is worth a 10/10, and i think it is worth a 9/10, that would make me see it as overrated, right?

Although, i would still look at it very much in the way you took it, just pointing out i can still love those games. Just that any game not filling my above listed critera gets an automatic -1 on my final rating, meaning i still can like them alot.
