For now this will be the HQ Thread of it. I hope we can start this project and make a PC game out of this. We're also open for suggestions

There will be two versions of the game, the normal version and the *cough* D-S Version. (Dating-Sim)

Proposed Plot: (not yet polished) *APPROVED*
You're a student with Minami, Yutaka, Hiyori, Izumi (Wakase), and Patricia who discovers that you can slip through dimensions. At first, you're simply trained by an alternate dimension Konata and just sent out to fix certain storylines. But eventually, you drag the whole cast into helping you. Almost absolutely no plot. Most probably huge crossover if allowed. Also you can flag certain yuri events parallel to the main chapters of the game. Probably ends in graduation...or is it?

Characters:(More to be added)
Konata Izumi [Mature Alternate Version]
In an alternate dimension where everything both seems similar and distant from the Lucky Star canon, Konata Izumi served as a main voice to her fellow otakus, always writing new light novels that catch the eye of every reader worldwide. When she discovers that certain anomalies were spreading out throughout the dimensional universe, due to some novels and stories somehow changing overtime, she sought to control her power (of which she discovered at college) even more and find ways of eliminating these anomalies. This caused her to organize a group of people to help her do so. And then the main character came in.

Haruhi Suzumiya
The very first human to ever become a god in a sense that she has the power to unwillingly control everyone around her. As an unstable being, no one is allowed to tell her secret, lest the world turn to ruins.

Nagato Yuki
A humanoid interface of that damn smart yet stupid data entity who made her to be an emotionless bookworm. Mature Konata's ability sensei.

Pikachu
Ash's pokemon, who happens to fell on a dimensional hole while Ash was in the ship headed for the Sinnoh region.

Party Characters [ability -- all max at Lv. 4]:
--Main Character--
He's a boy. [[needs approval...lol]]
Simple typical otaku, he joins Yutaka, Hiyori, Patricia, and Minami to get close to Konata, and at the same time is close friends with Yamato Nagamori, almost as close as Yamato and Kou is. While satisfied with his average life, average grades, and average otaku activities, he accidentally activates his ability: TransDimension in a process called Temporary Linking -- by temporarily linking dimensions only on a specific place and putting them back together, he can slip through dimensions. In an alternate dimension, he meets Konata, a 25 year old (yet still the same as ever in terms of appearance) woman [note the term], and a Lv. 3 Haruhiist. There, Konata explains the principle of abilities and how she has been recruited by her to fix certain anomalies in the timelines of animes. As an otaku, he simply agrees, not really knowing what awaits him: a life full of danger and otaku-ish cliches.

Konata Izumi [Haruhiist]
Obviously a hardcore otaku with a huge potential of becoming the 4th person (1st, 2nd, and 3rd being Haruhi, Sasuke, and A.V. Konata respectively) in the dimensional world to obtain powers that bend reality itself. At the start of the game, the main character obviously wanted to be with Konata, but the attitude changed when he saw the Alternate Version of Konata. He now sees this Konata as a comrade, a model, a good friend, and a collaborator to tease Kagami the more.

Tsukasa Hiiragi [Melody]
A natural airhead with a natural tendency for cooking, everything changed when the main character taught her (by coincidence) the basic principles for him to use her flute as a weapon. Kagami's fraternal twin.

Kagami Hiiragi [Electricity]
A soon-to-be tsundere according to Lucky Star's otaku circle, Kagami Hiiragi gained the power of electricity when she tried stalking on the main character, only to end up split into two separate dimensional data stuck in the Toaru Majutsu no Index series and Lucky Star series, and when the main character put the data back, he inadvertably added data from Misaka. Ever since, Kagami has been trying her hardest to gain self-control over Konata's and the main character's teases.

Miyuki Takara [Heal]
A meganneko and a very smart girl, Miyuki Takara gained her ability when she, and the main character, went to the Avatar [The Last Airbender] dimension, displaying how adaptive Miyuki was at the very start when her environment changed. She can also control water, but never does so. Know why.

Yutaka Kobayakawa
One of the main character's close friends, Yutaka was actually the only other LS Character whose ability is natural (pther than Konata and the main character, others gained from data mixing).

Minami Iwasaki [Confusion/Illusion]
Yutaka's close friend, and an often misunderstood flat-chested girl, who gained this power via an accidental contact with Fuuko Ibuki. =S

RPG Maker does not have the luxury of Live-Action base fights...=P

Besides, if we added that, we may finish it at twice the time as we would have without it. =S

Terms:
(Abilities)
Haruhiist -- ability to bend reality (the hardest ability to master) [You can't change your own self though]
Electricity -- ability to create/control electricity (obviously). Can also control magnetism and metal with the right technique.
Melody -- ability to create/control organized sound -- music -- into a formidable weapon / assist.
Heal -- ability to heal and rejuvenate (obviously)
Infatuate -- ability of assist of all-sorts. Includes Moe Overload, Voluntary Stun, etc.
Confusion / Illusion -- ability to confuse / set up illusionary images. =D
Drawing -- ability to turn any drawing into real things (as long as the power's lower than the user)
Cosplay -- ability to fully imitate certain anime characters (Haruhiist is a clear exception, even at Lv. 5)
TransDimension -- ability to slip through dimensions, including time. (-ability of the main character-)
SuperMode -- ability to temporarily turn anyone to Lv. 5 (except your own self or others with the same ability.)
ESP -- a general ability that allows for a temporary change in the laws of physics. Includes telepathy.
Transparency -- ability to make things (mostly allies) invisible.
Boost -- ability of speedy charges and buffs... -- includes Reckless Charge, 3-Second Rule, etc.
Gamble -- a totally random ability depending on the game =P
Elemental (Fire/Water/Air/Earth) -- It's pretty obvious isn't it?
AntiAbility -- the ability to cancel any ability by touching it. (screw paradox between Haruhiist and AntiAbility)
TimeTravel -- even though a Slider has some capabilities

(Levels)
Lv. 1 -- no voluntary control.
Lv. 2 -- little voluntary control. (1~45%)
Lv. 3 -- much voluntary control. (46%~90%)
Lv. 4 -- total voluntary control (100%)
Lv. 5 -- ultimate control + more (200~400%)

(Weapons)

Battle System:
Turn-Based Battles (RPG Maker VX default)
--due to lack of additional resources we'll be sticking to this system.--

Additional Systems:
The Otaku Quiz
Every once-in-a-while, Konata will almost literally drag you into a minigame wherein you are asked several questions about anime. Every answer correct you gain EXP, and if you manage to answer correct every time (20 Questions), you'll gain a special move courtesy of Konata's damn flexible Haruhiist ability. In the D-S version, you can gain the otaku's heart by doing excellent in this mini-game.

The Academic Quiz
Every once-in-a-while, there will be an exam by Ms. Kuroi and/or Ms. Hikaru. Although the questions won't be that long (most probably 10 questions centering around that year -- meaning 1st Year HS questions in your 1st Year) You will gain a special move if you perfect an exam. In the D-S version, you can gain Miyuki, Kagami, or Izumi Wakase's heart by doing excellent in this mini-game.

Mentoring / Training
After a certain event, you will be allowed to train your other characters, mostly by battling them and lasting for more than 20 turns. This will be helpful in gaining certain moves only available through this system. You can gain Tsukasa, Yutaka, Minami, Kagami, or Yamato's heart using this system.

Secret Party Members
Want to add Yui Hirasawa to your party? Kamijo Touma? Yuji Sakai? Nagato Yuki? Pikachu? Hatsune Miku? If you have a keen eye and open minds in this RPG, you can buy activating secret events, often through very very weird ways.

The Special Scenes
In the D-S version, there will be many scenes involving many slashes or Main Character slashes. There WILL be a special event at the last arc if you manage to max out the heart of one character through participating in certain events (much like in a Dating Sims game). There will also be special events for "fully promoting" certain parings, such as Konata x Kagami, Yutaka x Minami, Ayano x Misao, Sojiro x Kanata?. Sorry, but no eroge. For your sake.

Usually recommended is 3 for non-KyoAni OSTs. (although you can add as long as it's catchy. Example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4b7BYar8j_w&feature=related
But feel free to include (even all if it's appropriate) from KyoAni OSTs. (I'm so biased lol)...

For now I have Dango Daikazoku Intstrumental and original , Kira's Theme , L's Theme , Dialga's Theme , Pikachu Choir Theme and I have many K-On!! songs. Oh , I also have Devil May Cry's anime opening by Rungan. Which format you want them to be? I have all Bleach OSTs and Character songs , too except the 3rd movie's OST.

As a designer with RPG Maker myself, I have to say this:
Your map is pretty monotonous. Try spicing it up a little. I know my first game got major complaints because the first dungeon was 20x30 of 1 width pathways.

Your map is pretty monotonous. Try spicing it up a little. I know my first game got major complaints because the first dungeon was 20x30 of 1 width pathways.

Wow...they're all great!
(Except for Kagami that is...it's the HAIR! XD)

Also...you need to consider the blending in with the background.
(Well that's as far as I'm concerned =_=)

But wow really nice! I'll use this =D
(If you can somehow make it blend better that's better)

Despite my criticism, I'll be going with this!

There's a bit of a problem...it's not 32x32 ... plus it's almost substandard. XD

Project Progression Instructions:

Only developers, who really need to use this CAN use this version, as each version has a password that I only give out.

2. Please remember to work ONLY on the designated area, or else your effort may as well be in vain, as we'll be using a patch system. If you make changes in the places where you're not supposed to change, chances are you'll corrupt the copy. Therefore, make a backup copy of the orginal (patched) copy, for safety purposes.

3. I'm using Patch Maker by Clickteam, just to let you know.

To konatacon: Editing the graphics is fine.
To TheTerboh: For now, don't touch the graphics.
To DevaPain and others: If you want the project I'll PM you the password if you PM me. Take note it's only for developing purposes only.

4. How this will work:
I will continually improve the project then compile those improvements in a patch (which only holds changes in the project)

Example:
I edited the Scripts part, so only the script part shall be changed...

Once I uploaded the patch to the server, you must download it immediately. Apply it first to the backup copy before the copy you're working on (if you can, backup that copy too.). If problems arise, PM me. It's expected that the ff. will only work on the ff. areas and must not be touched (unless said so --details about that later--) If I missed something, post in this thread anyway.

want to ask is it mandatory to use RPG Maker VX , 'cuz mine don't want to work properly. I will try to find some other software that can loop mp3 files. And is there a problem if the music is not looped , 'cuz I don't know how to loop it , but I'll try with audio engine xt 1.2

Wait, why the hell do you need RPG Maker VX,aren't you just supposed to be working for the sounds? XD

Like I said, there's instructions in the link above to convert .mp3 to looping .ogg.

I can do it myself, but it'll take me longer to finish my other work...which are:
1. Doing the Otaku Quiz and Academic Quiz. (Maybe if I just ask someone to do 400 questions instead?) =/

2. Rearranging the events in the story (of which I can't put to the game yet as I need to get TheTerboh's map.

If I can finish the Otaku Quiz Level 1, I'll post it in YouTube (maybe at least I can get someone willing to help eh? I'm not a collaborator like konatacon, but I can be.)

Like I said in the prev. posts, get Audacity, and follow the instructions there.
(I'll post a converted looping .ogg later)


I forgot. Looping is required solely for the purpose of not repeating the intro. =P Of course for the meantime the unlooped ones will probably suffice (unless it's really unloopable, we can't do anything about that.)

And one last thing, mp3 makes more noise than ogg

In Level 4, the hardest level...
First 5 Questions will be about the anime featured in the RPG, while the next 5 will be anime from all over, meaning you'll only be lucky if you found an anime you watch. XD

Although there's a special surprise if you perfect the quiz is a special ability (other than the exp gained...)

Unfortunetly life doesn't seem open. I have relatives here right now, I'm working on the city map as of now, then I'm going to florida thursday and I dunno if I can convince my parents to download RPGVX to their laptops, and I'm being forced to learn japanese. I think when school comes up I'll be very flexible in my schedule but for now, not so much. (most of this stuff I've figured out like yesterday and this morning) Besides, the roads are complete and I'm doing the buildings right now.

Anyway, I got an adapter (thanks to intelligent rewiring of a broken adapter) and I can finally (and also hopefully more) finish the Quiz add-on. I've finished VN-like branches and routes for the first 2 arcs (Alt. LS Arc and Haruhi Arc) and added an extra-side arc, (Breath of Fire Arc)

Lastly, I'm trying to figure out a way to conserve graphics...as crossovers usually mean many many sprites right?

Ronelm, yes. Since you now has an adapter I can use some help. I've worked it out with my parents and the small windows of open time I might have in FL I'll use on the forum and wokring on the map (Unfortunately my other family members can be computer hogs). I hope I get a laptop... Edit: By help I mean find more sprites, tommorow I'll be sitting in a truck for 16 hours going to the sunshine state and probably when we get there my dads gonna be on the laptop and say "NO WAY DUDE YOU AIN'T GONNA USE THE LAPTOP NOW!" (Or something along those lines, and then he will use it for probably 6 consecutive hours) I'm sure I'll still have loads of free time.

Updates:
Adding Black Rock Shooter to list of crossover arcs, although I'm unsure if Konata and the gang will get a BRS-style artwork. =P

Short Details about Crossover:
You'll be battling BRS or DM. It's hard, as BRS will have the ability to shoot multiple times with her canon-thing, and if you fight DM, you'll encounter chaining events. Get it? XD

guys I have problems with Clannad OSTs. When I try to open them with Audacity it closes automatically. I have all the 3 discs downloaded , but I can't loop them. And I looped all the L*S BGMs.

I've gotten some random BGMs (non looping), ideas, and stuff. Although I haven't found a worthy tileset, I'm just going to continue with what I has and finish things off. I'm also going to put lotsa hints and stuff to locations since the map is HUGE (It was a good idea to make the walkspeed fast)...

Some News from my side of the valley: I'm considering to start making some pixel art, I need to see how that works out. If things roll out smooth I can help alot with production like tilesets and scenery. I'm going to tinker with the program to check out what I can do to make this RPG unique.
As for scripting dialogue, Sure! We can use all the help available. Just show me and ronelm what'chya got.

BTW: Ronelm, although we're VERY early in production of the game, can you send me some PM's on the ideas for the dating sim version? I'd wanna see what'chya think should go on.

I looped some Railgun OSTs yesterday. I think they are battle arena , Kuroko no Kuwadate , Gyakuten and searcher and from Index I looped Majo Kari no Ou for the battle with Accelerator and I looped Worthy Rival from Angel Beats. I don't know where we will use it , because we don't have Angel Beats arc , but I'm sure we'll find something fitting.

Anyway, the intro. I'll think of the single most cliched intro ever. =P

Again, I had to delay a bit due to RL pressing on me. =/

Plans of including Angel Beats as a crossover arc are underway. Therefore, I might have to separate this RPG now (if I included more, we'll have a 750 hour game with a Level 250 max XD)

So, again, I'm still stuck with mapping and spriting. =/ but the plot is going well (except for the intro)

Although I'm on a laptop in Florida and can't make any progress, I can say that the city map is very lively. For the NPC's I've made for this map they get extremely off topic and break the fourth wall. Expect to see some random humor from the people on the streets. I got some Victory/Loss BGS n' stuff. There's also some makeshift map transports and things I've left around. Although it ain't required I'm making some extra maps and putting some off limit areas in the current map, that could or could not be used in the game (i.e. a secret map, a "garage" in the first building of the game connecting to the city, and a construction zone that later gets cleared out). I also might be formatting some of the Jet Set Radio BGM I've found into one loooooooooooong loop that'l sound natural and similar to the original game format, if I could bear working with sound. It's all lookin' great on my part...

I make them 5 or 6 minutes long , because if they're longer they'll be bigger as size and it'll make the whole folder really large and we don't want the BGMs folder to be 2GB right?

As for space usage, I can worry about that. I have a rather large soundtrack that I want you guys to check out and pick the songs you like most from it. The loops might be lengthy, so that's something I'ma worry about m'self. If you wanna know the game fromat I was talking about, look for Let's Plays of either Jet Set Radio game (Future or the original).If anything, I won't make the loops and stick to making loops of the original songs themselves since, (depending on what goes on in the game) the tracks might be used selectively or not at all even.
As of now I am home, ready to keep on' truckin with the maps. I just got a new game, but until I get a VMU for my Dreamcast I'll be puttin' more time on map developement which is sorta rocky as of now. I'm trying to put as much random humor as possible in the city while still sort of keeping up with the purpose of the map. If the NPC says some random stuff, it was most likely my doing...

no , but I can't find any settings in the beta version. I use the beta version of audacity and it shows me minutes again. All the BGMs I looped are looped with audacity. I guess I have to start again after learning how to loop mp3s forever right? Hmmm , but I have to loop forever only the songs with big intros , because all others will be automatically looped from RMVX , am I right?

You don't loop it from there. XD

You don't even need the Loop in Effects...just this.

What you need to succeed?

1. Audacity Version 1.3.7 and up

2. Notepad for writing sample positions.


Here's a very quick way to get OGG loops in audacity.

Open Audacity

At the bottom where it shows selection start click the drop down arrow and choose Samples



Samples are the numerical value used to identify where the loop will start and end.

Also at the bottom toolbar make sure the term "Length" is chosen.



Open any mp3 file into Audacity

Listen intently for any possible looping points within the song.

Once you find an area you can loop with, delete the rest of the song.


Delete the rest of the song!

The idea is for the song to reach the end of it's file. RPGMaker will then loop it to a certain sample position number.

Protip: Zooming in helps alot with deleting sections of a track.

Protip: You can also click on a position in the track and press Shift+K [audacity 1.3.7 and up] which will select to the end of the track, this makes a very clean deletion.


The next step is to find the sample positions,


Click the position where you will begin the loop and make a selection all the way to the end of the track.
If you use [Shift+K] it will make a selection from the position you clicked to the end of the track.

Protip: Do you want to hear what your loop sounds like before you actually import it into rpgmaker?
After selecting the region that will loop,
Click Edit > Region Save
This will save your selection
Press CTRL+C or Click Edit > COPY,
then click Edit > Move cursor > To Track end
Paste the selection and listen to it.
If it sounds good, Click Edit > Undo
Then click Edit > Region Restore



Now that you have your selection, don't move it because we need the sample numbers


Type your selection start number in notepad. You do not need to type any of the zero's that start before the number. For example



Your selection start in this example is 1626852

Under length, type your number. In the screenshot's example it is 5772241


Click File > Export >

Under Meta data type under Tag Name type LOOPSTART in CAPS
in Tag value Type your selection start value
Underneath Type LOOPLENGTH in CAPS
type the selection length number


Click OK
Under save as type choose ogg vorbis:

OK so I just open up the file and delete the space before and after the song. Thanks ronelm!!! I'm busy at the moment , but when I finish studying for tests I'm going to start and loop all the BGMs that I have in the RPG folder except Clannad ones 'cause when I try to open them Audacity automatically closes. I don't know why.
