View Full Version : When They Cry
We need a 07th Expasion thread. So here it is.
Let's discuss the Higurashi and Umineko games here!
I've just started playing Umineko no naku koro ni, and I've got to say that I agree with what Freeman mentioned before, it's much better than the Higurashi game. The music, pacing and everything is great! I think 07th expansion learnt a lot from working on Higurashi and used that knowledge to improve.
I'm not that far into the game yet, though. I just got to the begining of the 2nd day of the episode 1.
After they find the bodies of the first 6 sacrifices in the storehouse
But I already love Natsuhi and Maria x3

Wait, I'm confused hear, are both games related to Higurashi or are they both completely different games? Sorry, I don't really know that much about it. >.<

From what I've heard, no, they aren't related, although I need to know where to get the game.

Ihihihi, it is an amazing game, I think it surpasses Higurashi in every way.
As to whether both games are related...
The games are related, in the grand scheme of things
So Rhea, what do you think? At that point, what do you think of Beatrice being real or not?
Lastly...Battler is simply the best in the whole game, those who play will learn eventually.
I'm not quite sure, though I'm leaning towards thinking she is real. It's kind of strange really, while watching and playing Higurashi I kept looking for a logical, realistic explanation for all the stuff that was happening. But here I keep thinking about tha fantastical explanations first. I think it's just because I like witches x3
But, if we look at it realistically, I do think Beatrice exists. As in there is a 19th person on the island, wether she is magical or not is up in the air. Though I think she's definitley connected to Kinzo, in one way or the other.
I'm really enjoying this so far~

I really can't wait for the episode 4 patch to be finished, it should be done before June is over, ihihihi!
witch-hunt.com This is the site for the Umineko english patch, to all who are interested.
I just finished Episode 1! Whoo~
(crack) THEORY TIME.
Is Beatrice real or not?
I think that she does exist, but that she isn't necessarily real. That's why her magic won't have any effect unless everyone believes. This makes perfect sense in my head, and I'll try write it out properly sometime when I'm not exhausted.
As for the Witch's Epitaph and the special clause in the contract between Kinzo and Beatrice... It seems like it favors Beatrice. I mean, they have to solve a riddle they have no clue how to solve, and play by rules that only Beatrice knows.
I don't think they can win by performing the Ceremony described in the Epitaph, even if Maria seems to think so. The reason I'm thinking this way is because of what they say at the end of the episode and later in the Tea Party for Those Who are Human; even though no one solved the puzzle, they would still be able to enter the Golden Land if they believed in Beatrice. and I'm having a hard time believeing that Beatrice would simply go to sleep afterwards. In fact, the whole "entrance to the Golden Land" deal seems shady. As I understand it, they'll still be dead, just living in some dream world. That doesn't strike me as a good end.
Though I suppose that, according to the special clause, if the hidden gold is found, Beatrice has to give up.
Right now, I'm thinking that the only way to win is to either find the gold, which would stop Beatrice from killing others. Or you could win by proving that Beatrice is human (the 19th person), or one of the 18.
Other notes:
Beatrice is awesome, as expected.
Natsuhi is still awesome.
The anime better not mess up the story or the characters.

That's pretty good for only going through episode 1.
I actually had an idea to solve the epitaph when I played episode 3...but I don't really remember it.
It's too bad I can't put down any of my speculations...but I'm 1/3rd through Episode 4, and since I'm on a new computer, I'll have to reinstall the game...but since the Ep4 patch is finished I'll get to do that.
The anime airs July 2nd, and it will use the same BGM used in the game.

I also saw that Akiko Shikata will sing the OP for the anime as well~
Too bad I'll be away when the anime airs...

I love the Umineko OP...like...almost more then Dread of the Grave, which you will hear in Episode 2.
Ihihihi, once you play through episode 2, I'll have to start calling you Beato.

I solved the first two parts of the epitaph, it was pretty interesting! The best part is that you only need to play episode 1 to figure it out.
