I played only the Game Boy/Color versions of the series.
That means:
Red, Blue, Yellow, Silver, Gold and Crystal.
251 pokémons were enough for me.

If It's like silver of gold you'll be able to get both.

YESSSS!!! ...Although Ho-Oh will be harder to get since you need the 3 Dogs in order to get the Rainbow Wing to access Ho-Oh's tower. :(

Yes.

I loved Lugia and Raikou in that series. Let's post our teams from that Era!

You don't need the three "dog" pokémon to catch Ho-Oh :P
Anyway, the team I used on Crystal:
Charizard lvl 100
Zapdos lvl 100
Articuno lvl 100
Lugia lvl 100
Pidgeot lvl 100
Farfetch'd lvl 89

As you can see, I used as much as possible only flying-types.
Sometimes I switched Farfetch'd with Venusaur lvl 100, Mew lvl 100, Celebi lvl 90 or Gyrados lvl 42 who knew strength.

Heh.

Lv 100 Snorlax (Leftovers, Curse)
Lv 100 Raikou (Forgot item, Spark, Crunch...)
Lv 100 Lapras (From R/B, Leftovers, Surf, Ice Beam...)
Lv 100 Magmar (Forgot Item, Flamethrower...)
Lv 100 Ampharos (Forgot Item, Thunder Bolt...)
Lv 100 Lugia (Leftovers, Aeroblast, Psychic...)

I was fairly nooby at the time...and it shows.

I only ever had 1 level 100 and it was on Pokemon yellow! My cute lil' Pikachu :P (Although Mewtwo wasn't far off at level 95)

All of my pokémon which I regulary used had those type boosting items.
I had several lvl 100 pokémons, like Suicune, Meganium, Moltres, the one evolving from Togepi, Thyplosion, MewTwo.
It isn't hard to get MewTwo lvl 100 since you catch him at lvl 70.

actually legendaries are slower to train then normal pokemon (it is a draw back for their boosted stats)

Those only boost EVs (Effort values) up to 100.

Have you guys noticed that the games are being easier and easier for everytime a new is being released?
The hardest pokémon in Elite Four on Crystal has the same level as the easiest pokémon in Elite Four on Red/Blue

hmm...
i dunno the elite four in diamond was hard.
catching legendaries are even harder. i'm playing crystal and i just cant seem to beat whitney (3rd gym leader)

The Elite Four in Platinum was very hard for me, I was really underleveled when I faced them like lv 48-54

I haven't played Diamond so I wouldn't know. I think Crystal/Gold/Silver were too easy.

All pokemon games are getting easier. I mean, DPPt can get done with a Infernape and a Gyrados of approximately equal level to the E4 (I did it). Seriously. DPPt is the only game where you can take your theoretical sweeper movesets of ~level to the E4 and win...and NOT run out of PP (DDance Gyrados and Mixed Infernape BTW)

I'm currently playing fire red on an emulator :D this is so easy due to the fact I started with bulbasor :P

kirant
06-03-2009, 05:29 PM
Actually, IIRC, 'zard is easiest past 2 Gyms because of natural sweeping ablities.

Droote

I have always thought choosing Bulbasaur would be the easiest way to win the game.

kirant
06-04-2009, 05:03 AM
Nah. Bulbasaur makes it easy to win both the first two gyms. However, Venasaur is an average Grass/Poison Pokemon. Charizard is a good sweeper later still.

We all know Squirtle is the best. I have Diamond and Pearl on my emulator and I bought up to Ruby and Sapphire. But my best team had to be on Red/Blue

Blastoise-100
Mewtwo-100
Zapados-100
Articuno-100
Dragonite-100
Mew-100

Basically every pokemon I liked was at level 100. Then I imported them to Gold/Silver. Now that was fun! XD

Nah. We all know Charizard wins both the Popularity contest and the "serious" tiers between the 3 original starters.

BTW, your team stinks of ubers

Droote
06-04-2009, 06:15 PM
Well the start of the game is the hardest when there's not many different types of pokémon to be caught. Also they are the weakest ones.
When you've cleared the first gym there's so many different types to catch.

kirant

Not really. I mean, in RBY, Brock was insane if you picked Charmander because they never gave you a Water to start with. In FR/LG, Brock is a joke because of Metal Claw.

I'd argue the hardest thing ever was the old E4.

Lol that was just a guess. I haven't played my Red version in ages! Really, I didn't have Mew or use Zapados at the time. But I can't remember who I used...so I just put them.

Also, Squirtle is the best. You can't beat a Squirtle. Unless you have a Mudkip...then it gets interesting.

kirant
06-05-2009, 07:39 AM
So I heard you like Mudkips.

Anyways, the 6 original starters sucked on a true competative tier. They all got good after the 3rd gen.

Especially the card from Base Set.

Charizard stomps...most of the time...

Charizard is overrated.

And we all know that only Mudkip can defeat this pokemon:

I love my deck so much better.

A whole set of Fighting Energy, _1_ Hitmonchan, healers. I can nearly deck you trying to get the 'chan.

Am I the only one here who plays Pokemon game hacks?

Some people have created some amazing pokemon games that aren't official.

Also, I'm waaaaaaay too lazy to make a team of lvl 100s...
I am really excited for Heartgold and Soulsilver though!
Me and my friend are going to battle nonstop once it comes out.
