View Full Version : So, what do you think of Lucky Star?
As many of you know, Lucky Star is a love it or hate it kind of anime/manga. With its simplistic, random, and incredibly obscure references, the franchise doesn't appeal to everyone.
That said, let's have a poll. Don't worry about peer pressure or anything like that: the poll is anonymous and your opinion will only be revealed if you post it.

Well to me I loved it. :) I got many of the refrences, I could relate to same of the characters. Mainly Konata and Hiyori... lol
But I can admit that some episodes were a little slow at times but I stuck with it and I still found them a little funny.
So for me I rated Excellent! XD

...I don't get you... You joined a Lucky Star forum, and yet you make a poll like this. I mean, it's fine, everyone has their opinion, but you have to expect that at least most people here think it's an average show.
Hey, just because this is a Lucky Star forum doesn't mean everyone has the same opinion of it. If someone doesn't like Lucky Star, then let them vote negatively. Likewise, if someone likes it, then let them vote favorably.
My reasoning is based on the fact that some people think it's mediocre or even downright terrible (yes, there are those people on this website), while others think it's a gift of God.

I understand that, everyone has their opinion, after all. It's only natural.
What baffles me, is that the people who don't like Lucky Star stumbled across this forum and joined it. It's like joining a soccer forum, even though you don't like soccer. o-o

My opinion of Lucky Star is that it's a entertaining anime and a very addictive manga. The series is not that funny, Azumanga for instance is funnier, but I like how it's a ordinary-life theme over the whole series. I like to thinkg it gives the viewer a better insight to Japanese culture.
LS is my favourite manga and my second favourite anime (Haruhi is number one) and I voted therefore excellent.

Theodore didn't say that he disliked Lucky Star, he only wanted the forum members' opinions on the series. And I think most people here find it above average.

I can't explain why I love LS; I just do. ^__^
I haven't actually watched the episodes in a while, although I have the DVDs and can re-watch them whenever I wish. My favorite current LS activity is following several of the LS stories on fanfiction.net.

Its decent at best, there isn't really anything original or interesting about it, its just a show that is something you can watch when your bored.

When I was trying to post my reply to Droote, the reply didn't post at first. Then when I repeated it, I got the "duplicate post" message, but the first reply still didn't appear. Then I posted an explanation, and IT disappeared. I posted a 2nd explanation, and IT disappeared. THEN, the initial reply AND the two explanation posts DID appear, so I deleted the explanation posts.
Is anyone else running into such problems with posting?

Yeah, the server is having some internal problems. Untill they are fixed, I suggest you copy every long post before submitting a reply to a thread.

It's average in my mind, simply put. The show is led by the flood of internet memes and is really disheartening when the show itself is actually seen. I could say it's Seinfeld if the good sitcom comedy was removed and replaced with shout outs to other shows. It is alright at pulling at your heartstrings at times, but nowhere near as good in this aspect as shows that try to do it (IE Nadesico, Gundams). It can be funny at times, but lacks the real "pow" that comedy shows have (Slayers, Excel Saga, Galaxy Angel), nor does it have the speed of delivery (For extreme scenarios, see Airplane!). And my like of Slice of Life is very limited to the parody of it (See: Someday in the Rain of Haruhi).
I think I might have liked the show more if its reputation didn't precede it. Similarily, I would call Haruhi an average anime should I have been told it was a life changing experience beforehand and maybe see Gurren Lagann as a 4/10 show (opposed to a 2/10 it is at currently) had I not been told its "the best mecha evar lolz".

The series is not that funny, Azumanga for instance is funnier, but I like how it's a ordinary-life theme over the whole series.
I need to rewatch Azumanga then because I thought that anime was simply garbage and not funny at all. =P
As if stated numerous times, I like "shows about nothing" and conversational humor shows, like The Office and Seinfeld, for instance. Lucky Star really delivers that by having no specific storyline and that they just talk about really random stuff.
However, the episodes themselves can be quite boring, which is why in some episodes, I only watch the LUCKY CHANNEL!!!! bit because I think that scene always delivers and I absolutely love Akiri's character. =P
Overall, not a bad show, but simply not one of the greats.

I've never seen the Azumanga anime, I've only read the manga. So I compared the LS manga with the Azumanga really.

When I first watching it, I was like, "What the hell is this?"
But now, I find it quite entertaining. I don't get all of the jokes since I don't watch too much anime, but it is still a likable show.

Its a just a good thing to watch when your feeling down, or bored, or when you should be working. Plus it provides Konata, an amazing role model :D
It was my first time watching a slice of life anime. In the first episode, I was wondering why is it only showing four girls talking for a long time with hardly any action going on until I googled slice of life.

Whoever complains that the talking drags on too much should pop in a Seinfeld DVD.

When I watched the first episode of Lucky Star, I enjoyed it. The whole food talk went a little too long, but it was great nonetheless. I'm glad I kept watching, because the story developed and the episodes got better.
To be honest, I've never read the manga, but what's certain is that Lucky Star has become one of my favourite shows.
