Project64 is a nintendo emulator for the computer. There are two good ones. The first is Project64 0.13. It lets you play online! Thats why it is right now the best. So heres what you do. 1. Go to this url Project64k v0.13 (http://pj64k.emulation64.com/). Then download it. 2. Go to this link to download some ROMS. Not all are available. Super Smash Bros. and more. (http://www.coolrom.com/roms/n64/1232/Super_Smash_Bros..php) 3. Extract both. Then run the Project64k setup. 4. Drag your ROMS to the Project64k file. 5. Run the program. Go to File, then Choose Rom Directory. Then click on the Project64 file and ok. To play, click on your ROM and go to File, Open ROM. Now for online play, go to File, Start Net Play. Now enter a username. Then click enter IP. Now type the following: 69.90.34.14:27888. Click connect and there you have it! See you there!
Edit: Watch This (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=20TG86EYWA0)
This vid tells you how to play the Super Mario 64 ROM.
ROMS list (http://www.rom-freaks.net/n64-roms-0-asc-name-.html)
Also when you are online, for connection type, keep it at Good (20 keyframes).
ToadsTool (http://homepage.mac.com/qubedstudios/ToadsTool64.htm)
Toads Tool is a program used to mod Super Mario 64. In my mod in progress, I am making a final level with five Bowsers and little land.

Now there is a leaked 1.7 beta which you can download here: Project64 1.7 beta (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=89JWSSEO)
No online play but it plays better and eventually should have something that lets you edit skins. Enjoy!
P.S. There is also Project64 1.6 but I am not putting a link to it.

Slightly off topic, but is there a decent NDS emulator around?
I tried looking for one a while back, but they weren't... brilliant.

Something go wrong because Super Mario 64 is the hardest to be played because its different than the other ROMS. Also, every game comes with a built in Gameshark I believe.

I still have a Nintendo 64 myself. But the emulator works better than it and has online play and a built-in Gameshark.

My N64 works fine.
I despise emulators...because no matter how clean people say they are, a virus gets in my computer.
The second reason goes along the same lines as why I buy anime and manga.

Do you want me to upload mine because I am 99.999999999999% sure there are no viruses in mine seeing as I have had it since I got my Laptop for Christmas.

I believe if you actually have the game bought, it is not illegal. Since I have a lot of N64 games, I can get a lot of games.

EDIT: ooooor not.
I got mario working about a year ago, unless u've got a joy stick its impossible. The n64 controller is so much easier than the keyboard the arrow keys just don't cut it for direction movement.
