Flashback Episodes

What do you think of flashback episodes in TV shows and animes? I read in wikia that flashback episodes are made because they cost less money and to piss people off.

Flashbacks are alright if they're isolated in an episode of original content, but for an entire episode... well, it's a bit of a cop out really.

It's welcome most of the time. But they say that good writing requires all points to be established when they're needed, and they can't seem tacked on as a way to empathize with a character, or to just show up at the last minute before a twist.

I like the part they have in comedy sketches. Like sometimes The characters will humourously flash back to a minute ago to emphasize the punchline of some joke or point out the comic relief's character's foolishness.
