Nothing to do with America, Christmas was a time for celebration before Jesus had even been born.

I see no reason the japanese shud celebrate Christmas. Not many Japanese are Christians. It's just Christmas has become something commercialized these days. Nobody even wishes Jesus a happy birthday anymore

That's the very reason they DO celebrate it. They see it purely as a secular holiday of partying and spending time with friends and family that originated in "that other big country over there".
