It's been about a year since I first discovered Lucky Star. I couldn't be more grateful. To celebrate the anniversary, I should probably buy another of the DVDs.

When did you discover Lucky Star? I have a feeling there was a thread about this here before, but I can't find it.

I discovered LS last year as well by watching Haruhi. :/

I discovered it in May 09. The first anime I really saw except Pokémon at the age of 10.
I saw a lot of [MAD]s with LS in it, and I thought I might check it out. Googled, found LSF, hooked.

And yeah, Misao, I also feel there was a thread about this here somewhere.

Back when it first aired, a friend of mine downloaded the openings to a bunch of new shows, and showed me them, one of which was Lucky Star's.
As it was completely mad, I decided that I must watch the show.

Were you by any chance naked at the time?

I think i watched it right after summer, after seeing a funny clip of kagami with the fmp yaoi scene.

Please, it took months of trial-and-error to perfect that.

I remember it as soon as it came out on RAW.
I DL'd alist of animes coming out and stuff so i thought i would download the RAWs of some, lucky star happened to be one; sure i couldnt understand it but i could tell Kona-chan was an otaku so i knew i would love it.
Then when it got subbed i watched that :3

Just like a lot of people, I discovered LS through Youtube. I remember I watched I video of Konata playing the First-person segment of the Doom movie.

Found it in May '09 through the clip of Konata's cosplay of Haruhi on Youtube. I had discovered Haruhi earlier that day when people were suggesting possible new character dances on the WoW forums, and someone linked Hare Hare Yukai. Before that, I had never watched anime.

Oh i didn't tell you how I discovered it, aside from when!

I saw some Konata avatars a few months in 2008, but didn't think anything of it. But when I saw her again in an episode of YouTube and saw a post on it online somewhere at the same day, I decided to watch the first episode. I... fell... in love with the show!

I don't have an idea of what motivated me to buy it... i just remember the day I bought an illegal copy of all the subbed episodes in a venezuelan animecon in december of 2008. and I went crazy for it ! tough I watched it slowly. Serously, I remember like I only had watched 8 episodes and I was already buying stuff in ebay.

I watched a video of that Initial D reference, then decided to try and watch it.

I think about two years ago (maybe just one year, I dunno), I was on an anime fan site, and someone's signature had a picture of Konata. I clicked it and bam, Lucky Star episode one.

I discovered Lucky Star in September of 2008. So I've been a fan of it for a year and four months, and have rerun numerous episodes on numerous occaisions. I first discovered it through subs on YouTube. I attempted to watch the dub a few times, but I was barely able to get through a single episode. Not my type of dub, as I've said on numerous occaisions...

I first learned of it through the signature of a member called Keregis on the Starwing HQ Message Boards. Konata was in it. I asked where she was from, and he said "Lucky Star". I checked it out one year later, saw the show, and now here I am.

Oh, now I remember how I discovered L*S ~nyaa-nyaa...
I was on Google and typed in "best anime" or "most popular anime", and L*S was very high on some of the lists that came up. The title "Lucky*Star" made me curious, so I looked it up on various anime info sites, and before I knew it, I was watching the first episode.

And BTW, so far it looks like I was the first LSS member to discover L*S ~nyaa-nyaa...

About a year ago. I'd just resurrected my computer (following the death of its original hard-drive) and used the occasion to cast-off my despicable AOL dial-up connection and move up to a cable ISP. FINALLY able to watch YouTube vid's!

Several positive posts regarding HaruhiSuzumiya over on Lum-chan.com (from posters whose opinions I value) lead me to TMoHS; similarly, positive reviews of LS on Lum-chan, now combined with YouTube view-ability, lead me to Lucky Star.

I had a problem with EVERYONE'S VOICES.

Only voices in the dub I liked to any extent were Misao (perfect), Ayano (also perfect), Minami (a little too monotone, but still well done. Should've tried for something like Brina Palencia did for Rei Ayanami in Evangelion 1.01), Yui (just barely, though), and any background voice that Vic Mignogna did in the show (episode 13, Kagami giving chocolate to the boy, for instance. Vic played that boy, and he did it WELL).

Off-topic... but anyway...

Minami was voiced by Michelle Ruff because she was also Yuki from TMoHS... just like in the Japanese recording.

Uh... yeah... I knew that, too, ya know... -_-; I also think that the Yuki voice could've been better as well with some of my pointers given above. Which helps since the same voice was used between Yuki and Minami in both language versions.

Today marks the 3rd anniversary of me discovering Lucky Star and then marathoning its brains out.

I never knew that 3 years would go by until BANDAI, its distributor, cancels releases for good.

I knew about it for a while, and only watched it after joining this forum.

I don't feel that it has left much of an impact, except the 48/5 hours + OVA of time I used.

Not sure when exactly I discovered L*S, but I know it was in 2010.

Heck, I can't even remember how I found out about this forum but I'm glad I did ^_^

Bandai, Y U NO DUB OVA!? (Before stopping license)

This is why. They didn't think it was worth it. The sales of the volume DVDs were not satisfactory.

Like several others who have already posted on this thread, I discovered LS via YouTube. ^_^

EDIT: Indeed, I discovered anime in general on YT. I knew in the back of my mind that anime existed, but I never paid attention to it before I started surfing YT.

I later bought all six DVDs of LS. If AMVs and such had been banned from the Web at that time, I never would have stumbled upon LS on YT, and so I almost certainly never would have discovered LS, and bought those DVDs.
