I've been doing some brainstorming for a LS doujin game recently. It's a 3D platformer. Originally it was supposed to be a fighting game, but then I realized it was too complex for that. The gameplay will be similar to Donkey Kong 64.

And it actually has a plot that doesn't interfere with canon! How is this possible, you ask? Well, it's similar to how the Subspace Emissary in Smash Bros. Brawl doesn't mess with any of the original series in which the characters are from. (And no, it doesn't involve figurines.)

The plot is as follows:
Kagami Yoshimizu is struggling to come up with new and original ideas for Lucky Star. After weeks of unsuccessful brainstorming, he comes across an advertisement for a hypnotherapist. He goes and asks the hypnotherapist to hypnotize him into coming up with more ideas. It works, and soon a stream of ideas gets his pencil to paper. However, there is an unforeseen side effect: the newfound ideas aren't actually original - they're actually old ideas that Yoshimizu-san rejected because they were bad. Now, the entire series was on the verge of being ruined.

However, there was a small part of Yoshimizu-san's brain that was left untouched by the hypnotherapy. During the night, it manifested itself in Yoshimizu-san's dreams as the Lucky Star characters before the plot was twisted beyond belief. Though the journey would be difficult, the characters set forth to save Lucky Star once and for all.

The war had begun, and the battlefield was the imagination of Kagami Yoshimizu.
The first level is the introductory level, where Kagami (as in Hiiragi, not Yoshimizu) and Konata wake up to discover that a Haruhi-like close space has appeared around their houses, and now their houses are right next to each other. They are told what they need to do by the spirit of Kanata Izumi (referred to as KI from here on out). First, they must rescue Tsukasa and Miyuki from an insane dentist.

After Miyuki defeats the dentist by growing to Godzilla size (a.k.a. “Moe Monstrosity”) and finishing him off by tripping and falling on top of him, KI tells the heroes that the weaker-willed characters have succumbed to KY’s influence and that they must be redeemed. They travel to a creepy-looking toy factory (similar to Frantic Factory from DK64) where they hear the faint echo of someone singing Futari no Mojipittan. Upon following the source of the noise, they find a boombox guarded by Kamineko from Azumanga Daioh.

After defeating the evil cat, they continue searching the factory until finally reaching the control room. There they find the horror of KY’s work.

They are confronted by a Yandere Yutaka.

but that's beside the point, this seems like a great idea so far, it's pretty original as far as cliche and originality goes, but one question.


How would we get this to work? Do any of us know flash or some other game designing software? Do we have the artists to work this out? What about funds? Sponsors? Is this for profit? etc etc.



There are millions of questions (ok maybe dozens is more like it) but as an idea, this seems great

I'm not sure about that stuff. A good friend of mine is going to do game design as a career, but other than that I'm not sure. I was thinking of doing the 3D animation it in Blender, though (since it's open-source).

Masculine Minami (who looks like a buff, green-haired boxing champion)
The Meganekko Manakin HIY-TAM
Possessed Patty (in the form of a vicious tiger)

I'm not sure about that stuff. A good friend of mine is going to do game design as a career, but other than that I'm not sure. I was thinking of doing the 3D animation it in Blender, though (since it's open-source).

I would think that just making them themselves would be better, minor characters.


Like personally, I wouldn't really want to fight Minami or Yutaka... Although I guess fighting haruhi would be alright since she's tough as it is.

I have a 5 years experience with Game Maker. I design games as a hobby and i'm planing to learn visual basic, C, C++ and other writing programms in the future. I can make something similar to you're Idea but I have to finish 2 projects first.

Actually, after you defeat them, KI will redeem them for you. Then they join your party. It's kinda like Shadow Pokemon in Coliseum or Gale of Darkness.

Newest boss ideas:

1. Road Rager Yui. You have to chase her as Super Saiyin Konata while dodging projectiles from the back of her car. After pissing her off by dragging the back of the car to slow her down, she drifts to face you and reveals her mecha, Asphault's Demise.

2. This can be one of two bosses, depending on which decision you make. You are at Akira Kogami's concert, but KI tells you there is an evil presence about. You have two options: investigate the presence, or enjoy the concert.

2a. If you decide to investigate, you start to go backstage to look, but Akira starts yelling at you for attempting to crash her concert. You must then face Akira, the Enraged Idol.

2b. If you decide to enjoy the concert, the lights will go out in the middle of Misoji Misaki. You hear Akira scream, then a spotlight goes on to reveal Savage Shiraishi with Akira pinned under his foot. You must then face him.

In either of the two possible boss fights, Konata and Patty fuse DBZ-style to form the Yuuchou Sentai Dajare Ranger.

Maybe in one point of the story, they fight a pokemon in a boss battle. :)

So, recently I went back and thought of more ideas for this game. (New ideas, which wouldn't warrant thread necromancy.)

Character Abilities

Konata:
-Fangirl Hype: At the cost of energy, Konata can trigger a short boost in speed, which can allow her to climb steep hills or run up walls.
-Super Saiyan Konata: Konata can turn Super Saiyan during boss fights for a temporary stat boost.

Kagami:
-Dragon’s Rage: Allows Kagami to breath fire at the cost of energy. Certain objects can also be lit aflame by this ability.
-Twin Tail Twirl: Allows Kagami to use her pigtails in order to hover.

Tsukasa:
-Moe Masquerade: Tsukasa can take on the outfit of the enemy in order to sneak in somewhere or receive special goodies from enemies who think she looks cute.

Miyuki:
-20/200 Boomerang: Miyuki can throw her glasses like a boomerang at the cost of the screen being blurred while it is active. Used in the Demonic Dentist battle to reflect the boss’s laser and incapacitate him for a brief moment.

Yutaka:
-Contagious Cold: Yutaka can inflict a contagious disease upon an enemy, which reduces their stats and is more effective against large groups.

Minami:
-Silent Stealth: As a passive bonus, Minami has a smaller radius from which enemies attack her. She can also used this ability in combat to disengage from the enemy and escape.

Hiyori:
-Hiyori Hookshot: Using her mechanical pencil as a hookshot, Hiyori can pull herself towards a nearby wall or ceiling, acquire out-of-reach items, and climb up walls.

Patty:
-American Charm: Patty can distract opponents with her cuteness and charm, leaving them open to attack. Does not work on mechanical enemies.

Yui:
-Beer as Blood: Yui can override all sense of safety to increase her strength and speed but leave her more susceptible to damage.

Misao:
-Cult of Va: Misao can summon an Acolyte of Va to inflict damage upon enemies with black magic.

Ayano:
-Satellite Character: While in combat, Ayano can decrease the opponent’s accuracy and dodge moves more easily.

Ms. Amahara:
-Stir Up Nightmares: Ms. Amahara can use telekinesis to show her enemies a vision of the most recent horror movie she’s seen, leaving them unable to act. Any damage done to the enemy during this effect will bring them back to their senses and allow them to attack again.

Ms. Sakuraba:
-Straightforward Sting: Ms. Sakuraba can deliver a blunt statement to figuratively stab opponents in the heart.

Ms. Kuroi:
-Corporal Punishment: Ms. Kuroi can do a short burst of damage that has a chance to make the enemy run away crying for its mommy.

Kou:
-Make a Bet: Kou can initiate a short minigame outside of combat for a chance to get temporary stat boost. Minigames include Dialogue Karuta (guessing which Lucky Star episode a certain line is from), Fill-in-the-Blank (“We are stuck in an endless ____.” a] summer b] recursion of time c] time loop d] attempt at trolling), and Name That Fanservice.

Izumi:
-Miss Ryoo: Izumi can summon a Groupie Guard to protect her.

Yamato:
-ESP: Yamato can use her ESP to manipulate objects around the room for various uses.

Haruhi [Post-game]:
-SOS Brigade Chief: Haruhi can call forth an SOS Brigadier to do her bidding.

Meito [Post-game]:
-Tenchou Finger: Meito can deal massive damage to a large enemy.

Akira [Post-game]
-Idol’s Calling: Akira can summon a Faithful Fanboy to protect her. They are similar to the other summon helpers, except that they are in greater supply and more disposable (as well as less powerful).

Minoru [Post-game]:
-Ore no Wasuremono: Can summon a school bag full of stat-boosting items.

So, it's been four more months since I last posted in this thread, and I've come up with loads of ideas for it in the meantime. Even though the actual game isn't started yet, the creative design is pretty much done. Plus, I've recently gotten contacts in the industry. (One of the teachers for the screenwriting camp I went to was Adam Moore, who was the writer for the most recent Ratchet and Clank game.)

New ideas include:
More post-game challenges: a boss battle against Kuyou Suou (from the 9th Haruhi novel; not spoiling it for those who haven't read it), a boss battle against an Ultraman-size version of the 2chan cat-thingy as Super Saiyin Patty, a boss battle against a Celestial as Tsukasa.

Also, there's an EPIC boss battle where you fight as Kagaboo (Kagami in pig form) and Churya-san (in Phase 2; during Phase 3, Churya-san climbs on top of Kagaboo) against the top two generals of Big Sister (aka Achakura-san). These two generals are Dust-chan and Dust-kun. In 3 foot tall MECHAS.

In Phase 1, you fight Dust chan in her stereotypical bipedal mech. ("WHO'S READY TO EAT SOME PORK RAMEN?") Since the battle takes place in someone's home, Dust-chan engulfs the carpet in flame, leaving Kagaboo to the kitchen tile. Snort in some of the fire and shoot her down. She'll hop out and attack you herself, so snort her in and snort her out into the fire. Repeat 3 times.

In phase 2, you face Dust-kun. ("PREPARE TO BE OBLITERATED, CHEESE BANDIT!") Dust-kun has a hovering mech with scissors for hands. You fight Dust-kun after he lifts Churya-san with electromagnetic energy and drops her in the bathroom. You have to dodge his attacks and then knock him out of the air by throwing smoked cheese at him. He'll try to charge at you with his scissor-blades, so you have to line up with the electrical outlet and step out of the way just in time. Then he'll hop out of his mech and attack you directly; pick him up and throw him in the toilet and hit the flush lever with the smoked cheese. Failure to succeed will result in badassery on the part of Dust-kun, including stabbing your smoked cheese, throwing you in the air and sending you face-down onto the bathroom tile, creating a tidal wave with the toilet water to try and drown Churya-san, etc.

In phase 3, they both get into one large, indestructible mech (which is invincible, BTW). You play as Churya-san riding on Kagaboo's back. You have to throw smoked cheese on the lever for a nearby armchair, which kicks you up onto the counter. There, you have to charge a cell phone in order to call Nagamori-san for help. The charger, however, is actually a miniature treadmill which you run on with Kagaboo. Charge the phone to at least 2 bars to escape and finish the fight. (Charging it to 4 bars will earn you the "Exhausting Equine Exercise" achievement, which is a prerequisite for the "Hardcore Hikkikomori Hero" acheivement.)
