The OVA thread reminded me of her appearances in the story where they get lost in the woods. Nanako angrily yells at them and scolds them for not sticking with their group... and after she's done, calms down, sighs, and asks them if they're hungry.

That's what I love about her! She does what teachers need to do, but is still friends with them, and understand what they're feeling too.

It's easily the most likely pairing the the show, in fact it's the only one with any credibility. As much as you must hate to hear it, Konata, Kagami, Minami and Yutaka are not lesbians or bi. Konata is actually questionable, but it still takes two to tango.
