What if 4Kids got Lucky Star?

My friend and I are planning on making our own dub of L*S and uploading it to Youtube, except we want to dub it 4Kids-style, just for the LOL's (and for making fun of 4Kids of course ~nyaa-nyaa! ;3)

So, since it will be a 4Kids-style dub, we're going to try to "Americanize" it as much as possible ~nyaa-nyaa.

We already thought out some of the characters' dub names:

Izumi Konata = Katie Fox
Izumi Kanata = Sadie Fox
Izumi Soujirou = Matthew Fox
Hiiragi Kagami = Sarah Parker
Hiiragi Tsukasa = Sally Parker
Takara Miyuki = Megan Fowler

Minegishi Ayano = Stephanie Smith

About the theme song, that would be funny, but since 4Kids always creates entirely new theme songs, we're going to do the same ~nyaa-nyaa.

And sorry to disappoint you, but I'm not going to end my sentences with "~Nyaa", since "nyaa" is Japanese and 4Kids wouldn't have done that ~nyaa-nyaa.

One Piece is the only example that springs to mind (removing guns, altering entire arcs, turning a cigarette into a lolipop, changing one guy's skin colour etc.), but there might be more.

I seriously doubt any of the American kids would know what a rice ball is. Still should have been left alone, though. If anything it could be viewed as an opportunity to learn more about Japanese culture.

I absolutely LOLed when I first saw the title of the thread.....

And then I saw the concept behind the thead.....

And then I LOLed even more.

I want to contribute some ideas for this kididized version of the show, even if the threat hasn't been attended to for a while. So I'll start.

A few possible ideas could involve changing otaku to nerd to make it sound more Americanised (after all, kids won't know what otaku means, right?). All the same, moe becomes cute because kids don't know what moe means. Speaking of which all of Konata's jokes aimed at Miyuki would probably be changed to something that tries to be funny that fails, such as a lame pun.

And even though there is very little of it, anything "violent" would be cut out: the scene where Minami hits Hiyori with a dodgeball during the dodgeball game would be cut out because it's violent, which would create a random plothole.

Also turn Yutaka's yaoi question to Hiyori into something REALLY stupid that makes Hiyori overexaggerate unnecessarily and would make every single viewer facepalm at the stupidity.

Probably the biggest possible way for the show to be ****ed up would be to bring the gender ratio down to 50-50, partially for the sake of removing any yaoi references and targeting the show to young boys. How do they do this? Edit the uniforms (and bust sizes though this isn't much of a problem for some of them) of Konata (shorten her hair in the process), Tsukasa, Minami, Patty and Misao so that they are wearing male uniforms, therefore altering their genders in the process (and changing Patty's name to Peter....OH GOD). This would make Yutaka/Minami and Misao/Ayano look like boyfriend/girlfriend and randomly turn the show into a cliche'd highschool romance 'comedy'. I'm pretty sure that this would be a huge insult to the original series if it ever happened that way. Not to mention it would completely transform the show into a messy blob. If it happened they'd have to change Soujirou's character into something different from a lolicon, or simply take out all the references. Even worse is cut out a bunch of scenes with him or completely remove him from the show. Also I think they would change it so that the girls would be in grade school instead of high to target the children. That said, the nature of the show made me think of something: '4Kids' could just take any scenes they wanted and scramble them to create a different order. For example, they could make it so that Yutaka arriving at the Izumi's is the very first thing that happens, though that's just an example (which would leave the non-main girls with huge gaps in which they don't appear). They could even chronologically mess all the events up to try and make a plot out of it all (such as a shonen without any action), leaving certain episodes out if necessary. Granted that might be taking it TOO far.

I'd expect 4 Kids to have something similar to that but I got a question though.

Ive never seen this version. Before it was Kareoke with the main cast of 4 then it would switch over to Minoru singing random songs doing weird things and such.


It looks like it would be the type of credits that Lucky Star would have had if it aired in English speaking countries but to my knowlege Lucky Star didnt air on TV outside of Japan atleast. Someone correct me if I am wrong.
