View Full Version : Is Astrology Real?

For a long time, I depended on horoscopes to predict my future and such. Whenever I read profiles summarizing all the traits of my sun sign and the sun signs of other people I know, I can't help but think how scarily accurate it is.
I mean, I'm a Taurus, and Tauruses are supposedly "stubborn", "determined", "loyal", "kind-hearted", and "possessive". I agree that I am all of those things (except maybe the possessive part, but I'm not sure).
Despite this, however, I see no logical reason behind astrology. How can the date in which you were born influence your personality, looks, and achievements?
What are your thoughts on this ~nyaa-nyaa?

The thing is that you read you horoscope, and as your day is over you think "Wow, all the things written in today's horoscope really came true!" If you were to read another horoscope that isn't your sign, you still find that all the things written applies to you as well.
When you want to believe something, you make exceptions, let some things slide, thinking that something could fit if you just want to etc.
I find atrology to be complete bullshit.

Yup, it's too general those predictions IMO.
I'm Libra BTW. XD (September 23.)

Most of the time they're so incredibly vague it could mean anything to anyone. Because that's what they're meant to do, mean anything to anyone, so that at the end of the day the reader can say 'Oh, so that's what it meant'.
I don't deny there are people who genuinly believe they have the ability to predict the future using the stars, what I do deny is that they actually have said ability.
Astrology isn't real.

Well, i will tell you a story of mine. I never used to read those things, neither did i think they were fake. But once, a friend of mine was deceiving me through an online rpg, and he impersonated himself as somebody else, and i as a dumb was following his mind game badly. I realized that something was going on, cuz in school he was whispering with other guys that played the same game and laughing and i was like "hmmm" but i never suspected it could be related to the rpg i played, the character he was impersonating was just part of the game, but i shared a lot of information with that char ... and i was starting to feel bugged.
Well, turns out i was reading a magazine a random sunday, and i entered the horoscope section.
My sign, Virgo, said "you will innocently fall to a friend's prank" and i was like "WTF???" and i checked the detailed profile of the character in the webpage of the game and it said it was from the same school as mine.
LOL i brought down his prank through impersonating himself in the game as a girl xDDDD
but he made a mistake when creating his profile lol...
So yeah, those horoscopes could be very creepy some times, I could enter in more detail with the story and it would be shocking, but i can't go more far than that xD

Yeah, horoscopes are just really vague. I've never believed in astrology at all. My cousin does though. Nearly every morning she tells me "my horoscope." @__@

In a way, I think astrology is true, and despite horoscopes being enormously vague, I think for me, reading them makes me feel better and it kind of guides me in a strange way. Although it's kind of difficult to tell whether it's really true or not, I guess it depends on intuition. I think astrology is an odd subject to really elaborate on, but in my opinion, I wouldn't doubt it if it really was real and alive.
But 40% of the time, fortune cookies are false. ;_;
Though I wonder how the study of stars and the earth relates to our horoscopes.

I agree with you guys that horoscopes are very vague, but my main point is how can something as simple as the date you were born on determine your personality traits? I mean, read through your sun sign's profile on practically any astrology website and you'll find that all or nearly all of it summarizes your personality ~nyaan.[hr]

Fortune cookies are correct once in an odd while, but that relies solely on chance. And 101% is impossible ~nyaa-nyaa. =P

I don't care about astrology,and don't believe about that
and I don't care if astrology is true or false, that's just prediction, maybe coincidence if what was predicted happened

?
Again, by using very vague terms. It'll use very common personality traits, and of course ignores all other traits that someone might have. Therefore, if each sign is given, say, 5 traits, most people will find at least 2 or 3 of those that apply, or that they percieve to apply, to them in each sign.

That sounds like a romance movie quote ¬¬" , i think any reply in this thread can't go beyond opinion... nobody really knows if astrology is accurate or not, it might or might not be coincidence. I personally think It is, but I can't appropiately support that... i just told my story and that's all lol

Looking at my sign, most traits are spot on for me. Looking at 5 others, most traits are also spot on for me.

Probably cause they says things like "You don't like when an injustice occurs", and most people would be like "Yeah! I hate injustice! This thing is so accurate!"
As for astrology itself, it's okay to look at for fun sometimes, but if you actually believe it has any effect on reality, you need help... or a better hobby.

Not necessarily ~nyaa-nyaa, but I don't blame you for thinking that.
